So a friend and I went to our local indie (Wrestle Club in southern Idaho) Saturday for their annual Potato Bowl (again, Idaho) tournament. It was the first time going to a show for either of us, and we almost gave up on even going when we couldn’t find the place (an old lumber storage building). Glad we didn’t, because it was an absolute blast. We had the first two seats right by the ring and locker room, so every wrestler came right by us and almost all of them interacted with us in some way. Highlights included: -The evil wrestling doctor getting in the top rope, tapping the light right next to his head and yelling “I’ve got a bright idea!” and then missing a frog splash. -A masked man wrestling as three slight variations on the same gimmick in a row doing some pretty good comedy spots. Did my favorite where he got the other guy running the ropes repeatedly, then the ref doing it, then had the ref clothesline his opponent and go for the pin with the wrestler counting the 2 count -In the semi-finals, the two biggest babyfaces were matched up against each other and had a great match. Eventually they fought their way to the bathroom where the heel champion and his underling (who were the other half of the bracket at this point; the underling took a dive) locked them in with a chair for a double count out. -In the championship match (the heel current heavyweight champion against last year’s potato bowl champion), the heel did the usual stalling and sat down right next to my buddy and asked him “Hey what should I do here?” My friend said he should just stay sitting and take the loss and the guy yelled at him “That’s a terrible idea! You’re an idiot!” And got back in the ring where he proceeded to throw his elbow pads at us a minute later. It was a great experience, and we plan on going to their next event in a couple weeks. Edit to add: Also during the final match when the heel had the current champ hanging by the ring post my friend yelled to give him a pink belly and he did. Yeah, if you're only going to have one match announced, it's a hell of a match. I'm stoked. I guess there was no real pressure on them to do it since the show sold out super fast and they likely had to deal with visa complications. Glad they're announcing stuff now!

And no one’s going to go 100% and maybe get injured on a show that pays poo poo. It’s a bummer because MLW is like the only indie that regularly runs Philadelphia anymore. Just gotta sit through Enzo and DBS Jr segments to get to the lucha factory.

Their streaming deal airs the same episodes one week earlier, which are pre-taped anyway, so there's really no point in watching the 'live' stream.
