naw, likely fired because his salary was to expensive and musk literally just demanded x number of employees be fired, also without having any idea that dude has a contract as part of him being bought by twitter that actually is much more ironclad then the regular employees. Musk might also have saw his branch name and thought figma was a joke internal and not real, and no one was left that actually knew or cared to look at what it was.

Dude seems like a super nice guy but hes really letting musk dig his own grave. More then likely HR was trying to figure out how to get around the fire/layoff clause and were delaying things, (or trying to figure out iceland employment stuff) and he forced musk to stick his dick out and HR had to do something now. Or hr likely had no loving clue because the layoffs are blatently just random and they are backlogged to poo poo because he fired thousands of people within 6 months

Haraldur was the founder and sole owner of a company called Ueno that was later acquired by an undisclosed sum by Twitter. This is where things get interesting: Instead of a traditional M&A sale, the sales agreement stipulated that he should be paid for Ueno as income compensation for him as Twitter's sole employee in Iceland. This was an arrangement so he could pay a large income tax to the country where he was born and grew up in, as a pay back for all the good things the country had given him. The sum has never been made public, but his income tax filings in his home country show that he is paid ~4 million USD a year as an employee, so the sum must be some tens of millions of dollars.

Although the details of his agreement between him and Twitter are unclear, it's pretty telling that he was not working there under a typical employment agreement.
