Anyone ever play that old PC game Beachhead/Beachhead 2000? Endless waves of enemies doing amphibious and air assaults on your position and all you have is a machine gun nest with some cannon and stuff. Getting reminded a lot of that when hearing about these human wave attacks. Russia treating the mobiks like the Imperial Guard lol

That's basically also what the AA gun simulator we used for training was, endless waves of air assaults to your position and you got points for accuracy and speed of scoring enough hits to different stuff approaching.

The impression (read: comfy armchair guess work) I'm getting is that your avg. Russian conscript being sent to the front is mostly living in a info bubble right up until they actually get there. They probably hear vague and occasional comments about it being hell but are bombarded with propaganda so much and so thoroughly it doesn't really sink in and gets discarded as Ukrop propaganda instead. By the time they actually get anywhere near the front and find out that they really are just cannon fodder its much to late to do anything about it. The Russians have more or less recreated and installed en masse the old NKVD "blocking battalions" in the rear to make sure the meat gets pushed into the grinder and keep order. Going into a meat grinder of a battle is terrible but also find out those who are supposed to be your countrymen are the ones betraying you to such a fate on top of that has to be a heck of a mindfuck. Especially if its a surprise that is sprung on you thanks to being bubbled by propaganda! Don't forget too that the guys pushing these poor suckers into the meat grinder are also better armed, trained, and fed. The bastards doing all this have no shame about stacking the odds as much as possible in their favor. They're probably well aware that if there is a successful revolt by the soldiers that they're all getting fragged.
