I feel like I generally read the patch notes pretty well but went back digging on this one, not in patch note #5, but in patch note #4 I found this, "Additionally, Conditions will also affect the chances of increasing the rarity of items being gifted."

In the "Mission Board" notes above this section it lists Grims as a side mission / condition so presumably that's where the interaction occurs to increase the rarity chance. TBH I'll probably still purposefully skip grim maps until I see some stats about what the actual rarity increase chance is since having to hunt for all 3 grims is (to me) annoying. Perhaps I should see if anyone has catalogued all the possible spawn points for grims yet.

Anyway thanks for pointing out that I missed that in the notes!

You're welcome!

Grims is actually only max 2, Scrips is what you're thinking of for finding 3. Anecdotally even when touching the :pubstove: on higher difficulties we pretty much always end the mission with all scrips/grims, with most players being willing to ditch one or both grims if the mission is looking a little... grim.

Once you know where to look and what to listen for Scrips are pretty easy to find, and Grims glow a distinct green color so only a few are hard to notice. IMO pretty worth looking for scrips if leveling a new character for the exp bonus.

Oh yeah I do aim for and seek out scriptures missions already. No corruption makes it an easier decision, I've currently got a 30 psyker and a 28 ogryn, perhaps once I have them both to 30 and get a bit slicker with my gameplay I'll be more willing to risk grims in pubs but teammates are so variable. Malice is starting to feel smooth though.

Corruption Res and Corruption (Grims) are both fairly meaningful stats now, and both affect grim corruption properly now so sleep some of that on your curio secondary stats and be amazed at how much easier Grim collecting it. I wouldn't go out of your way to reroll for it but I do consider it a good pick up now.

Trauma staff is fine since the buffs and new blessings.

Corruption res is a good stat to have on curio's, but I'd be hesitant to take grim resist unless you like swapping between missions.

I've been thinking about how the Genestealer Cults/Tyranids have been hinted at and wondering what other factions would be cool to have in-game. Personally, I'd love to have the Dark Eldar/Drukhari to fight against. They've already got a bunch of things that could slot into both the regular and special enemies already in the game like Kabalites for ranged, wyches for melee, and Haemonculi experiments or wracks for hordes. Incubi would be elite melee, Grotesques the Crusher, Houndmasters could summon dogs, and you could introduce Hellions as a flying ranged nuisance. A Talos could even be a sweet boss.

Lore wise it could work as maybe there's a real space raid declared on the planet and you have to defend critical sectors from their attacks.

If nothing else, it'd be a cool visual change from the bio-mechanical chaos and tyranids stuff.

I just hope if and when they add new enemy factions to the game it isn't a beastman situation where their addition makes the game noticeable less fun (until months of nerfs later that just make them tolerable)

Another thing to consider is that if you're doing quickplay you're gonna get dropped into a lot of missions with no chance to set your gear first, so grim resist has a very good chance of being a completely wasted stat.

Their standards mechanic is really annoying since it buffs them and when they were first introduced the enemy spawns were completely hosed so they'd spawn on top of you or without a sound cue. They're tankier than Skaven and doubly so when their standard buff is active. So thirty Gors appear out of nowhere and lynch you.

I mean grim resist being "wasted" is kinda moot.

I can only target one perk on my curios and getting one that is exactly perfect is terrifically unlikely. Sometimes you just already have corr res.

Arghy

Yeah considering how often i get something silly like gunner or bomber resist having it be grim resist doesn't seem so bad. As far as i can tell the best curios stats are toughness, health, toughness regen, and curse resist as you will always use those. My pysker has 55% grim resist and it loving shows during grim missions.

When i actually have weapons and curios options i imagine i'll have load outs for grim and non grim missions but as is i'm lucky to even have 3 good curios with all the poo poo blessings out there.

Gunner resist is actually top tier fyi, gunners and reapers are some of the most numerous and dangerous elites in the game (if you play above malice)

Mutant/Dog/Bomber/Flamer resist are all filler that do absolutely nothing however, like literally nothing.

mutant resist can be funny when they pound you and you take virtually no damage since theyre already kinda weak.

Gunner, health, toughness, toughness regen, and corruption resist are all pretty good i feel

Ogryn with max sniper resist can tank a bunch of shots

Valtonen
May 13, 2014

Tanks still suck but you don't gotta hand it to the Axis either.
Malice and below stunlocking enemies are the deadliest, byt since that is -due to stunlock- damage resistance on then does absolutely nothing. Malice+ ranged enemies become the #1 cause for wipes due to pure damage they inflict.

The only enemies that feel like threats are gunners and bulwarks (and bulwarks aren't a threat bc of their damage) so I am aiming for sprint efficiency on all my curios

Snipers are super easy to dodge, mutants literally cannot damage you unless you stand in the middle of rooms, dogs get knocked out of the air if you shoot, swing or push after they jump. Bombers pretty much can't damage you if you bunnyhop.

Ironically, trash-tier poxwalker horde dudes are generally what I see killing people most in Damnation. They literally hit harder than any of the specials do and they only give you an audio cue that they're about to swing from behind you sometimes.

Eh if you're being shot by gunners/reapers you've already hosed up and a paltry 20-40% resist isn't going to stop them from destroying your toughness. Do we know what counts as a gunner yet?

Other than the Standards , their rank and file units all use spears that have massive melee range (compared to rats with shivs), which combined with V2's janky "running attacks get extra range" thing made them super annoying to fight. They also came with chaff ranged units in the form of archers that wouldd slow you down for a second or two when you got hit with them. They were also much more stagger resistant iirc than rats or chaos guys.

Theyve since been improved a lot so theyre not THAT much more difficult, if at all, compared to regular chaos dudes. The only things that are still somewhat frustrating about them are the archers, the standard knockbacks (mostly when they stack; eg CW chests), and the Minotaurs. Especially on CW MInos are a big gently caress-you because so much of their attacks do knockbacks and 90% of CW is sheer cliffs, and if you get a bad location + an unstaggerable mino that can turn a good run into a fail superfast.

This is very incorrect. You're going to get shot by gunners all the time, mitigating that damage with 60% resistance is a godsend on haz 4 and up.

Reapers also count as gunners.

Gunners are the second most dangerous enemy in darktide behind those loving shotgunners (which are not gunners for the purposes of damage resist).

Yup the biggest surprise going from malice to 4\5 is how many enemy spawns become 30+ shooters with 10+ gunners. You just never get that level of danger in malice. Ranged enemies and their damage increase is like 60% of the difficulty bump.

Agrip Braced is the best autogun IMO - hits hard shoots fast enough has plenty ammo. Its the main one i bring for tier 5 if i need an autogun.

Reminder you want Fire Frenzy as it currently stacks 5x which is not mentioned in the blessing description and then my other blessings is the one that gives you ranged immunity on close kill.

Absolutely do not need the 75% DR with that blessing
