Mind when the photo of a corpse of a dead kid from one of the boats was all over the front pages and everyone acted all shocked and how did it come to this and then within a week (probably much less) they'd all gone back to their 2 minutes hate about refugees?

Dunno why I'm thinking of that now

I can’t really think of another time an advanced country has gotten as avoidably hosed during peacetime as Britain has under the Tories post-May. It’s fascinating how the utter failure of the conservatives has only made Labour more obsequious. A moist, bloated, and frightened-looking leader is really their perfect avatar.

As I recall, they stuck the poor little kid's face up on their front page calling for airstrikes in syria saying we should do it for him.

Probably a bit of both, but this taken on 9th March might show that the whole small boats thing didn't go quite to plan. And if nothing else, there's a nice -4 Lib Dem in there.

It's very frustrating for me to see all of the things that were described as conspiracy theories back five years ago being called out now, often by the people who participated in those conspiracies. There was always right wing pundits getting free reign to say whatever they wanted about anyone left of David Cameron in positions of power, the BBC has always had right wing people in charge of it to the point of secret services dictating who gets to have a job with it, the press is actively in the pocket of whoever promises to do what right wing news paper owners tell them to do.

But now they hosed with Match of the Day so we're suddenly very mad!

And as always it's interesting to see what goes unsaid, such as the revolving door of BBC journalists to Tory Communications officer and vice versa.

I think it's maybe just a sign of how ineffective dead catting is when most people are tangibly feeling the country being hosed by the corrupt bastards.

It would be a safe bet that if prices meticulously returned to what they were 2 years ago, then that lead Labour had would vanish quicker than a tankard of whiskey in Keith's office.

Always remember Ed Miliband had a colossal lead over the Conservatives and it slowly got eroded as he kept on coming out and meekly endorsing Conservative policy but wishing it would have been nicer. Then it was all for nothing because the second it came to an actual election the press all stuck their thumbs on the scales for the tory party.

My prediction is that by the time the General Election comes it'll be a tighter race because that gives Newspaper editors more sway over who becomes Prime Minister and Keir will suddenly unleash a bunch of leftwing sounding promises while briefing journalists that it's okay, he's lying. It'll all come down to if the press decides to stick with a sure thing or take a chance on a very reliably right wing liar.

Comedy option of course is one of the journalists decides to Matt Hancock him and release the "It's okay, we're lying" texts.

I think for a lot of people it's never been quite so blatant. You could always point to more left leaning BBC people to counter the debate.

Now we have the BBC coming down so heavily on such a mild tweet it's just changed the light so everyone can clearly see the governments puppet strings.

I've got a lot of friends who don't watch football and don't care about match of the day absolutely furious about this, who have shrugged off my complaints about the BBC in the past.
It also helps that the Attenborough thing came out this week too.

Was feeling really bleak about the situation a couple of days ago when the Tories propose a blatantly fash policy and Labour complain it isn’t fash enough, but I do like to see this. Even if it’s not an agreement with what Linekar said, it’s at least a pretty widespread observance that the government and the BBC have massively overreached with this. Was actually surprised that they’d suspended him rather than just quietly let it pass, seemed at the time a poor decision and looks plain stupid right now.

If the BBC didn't want Lineker cos he costs too much they could just get rid of him.

They don't because he's their most popular presenter probably only behind Attenborough and know he could easily make twice what he does going to sky.
