Seems to me like they really just wanted a way to down the drone that wasn't as aggressive as firing a missile to give the US right wing pundits "this is the result of a weak president" taking points. Funny how it happened at the same time one of the prospective GOP candidates called the Russian War a "territorial dispute" that wasn't our concern.

Why are low wings the preferred configuration for passenger jets over high wings? (I know there are exceptions like the cute as hell 146  ) Even for rear, high engined (MD80, 727) the wings are/were low. Is it structural? Aerodynamic? Maintenance?
