Lil Boosie and Webbie were early 2000s Louisiana rappers that were signed to a label that was part owned by Pimp C. The two have collab mixtapes that were supposed to be pretty good. Webbie is like a full blown alcoholic. Boosie’s first album is good, and he’s definitely a blueprint or prototype for modern trap rappers. Where it wasn’t just about hustling but also speaking on the bad poo poo on the block. He got locked up for a few years on a super bullshit situation, I think the “witness” was paid or something. He got out back in 2015ish though. He proceeded to have a bout w cancer which is where Young Thug’s song “gently caress Cancer” comes from. He is also someone who clearly had wild trauma in the past. Lots of wild statements and situations. Wildly homophobic, which isn’t the biggest surprise. the uk drill scene has been in a transitory period where artists either learn to evolve or the genre dies. to make turbulent times worse a ridiculous chunk of the guys who pioneered the sound are currently in jail doing 10-30 years. off the top of my head suspect, swavey, loski, mizormac, frosty, yanko, ps, kweng, trizzac, kk, tscam, cb are all doing enough time that they won't see out their music career. joining them recently are KO and hitman from the 98s homerton / holly st who have been remanded in prison on a murder charge. poo poo is depressing. There are a couple tracks I want to put on repeat but you might as well play the whole album again. Infrared is so catchy. Duppy rivaled it lyrically. And then Pusha went for a TKO.
