Montgomery got 11 million guaranteed. Jamaal got 8 million guaranteed. I'd say Montgomery is worth that over Jamaal.

Nobody knows what he wanted or was offered from the Lions.

montgomery is very good when he is not being tackled at the line of scrimmage.

I think people are sleeping on Montgomery because his YPC isn't high. He played behind one of the worst lines in football and still did well. And he's still only 25.

Bears probably should have kept him at that price since they're looking to have a terrible line again next season.

11 for Montgomery, 8 for Jamaal.

This is where I am.

Unless Jamaal seriously brought his price down, it seems like they just wanted to get younger at the position.

This was Jamaal's last chance at the bag and nobody can fault him for going for it. I think if this contract was his number the Lions would have signed him.

Montgomery is better than Jamaal. He's an excellent blocker, one of the best receiving backs in football, and consistently has one of the highest broken tackle rates in the league. Twice, I've seen him take an injury that looked like it would end his season and he was back in a week. His biggest problem has always been getting tackled consistently in the backfield because he plays for the Bears. It is a terrific signing that makes you better.

That's a good signing. He's one of the better backups in the league and has played with Moore.

Curious on the numbers but the Bears still have a ton of cap space left.

Is the Northwestern tackle supposed to be the top tackle? I thought Paris Johnson was higher on some boards and has more upside.

Some prognosticators think his short arms will limit his effectiveness at tackle, but if that doesn't work out he projects as an excellent guard too.

It's upside vs technical ability. I'd take the guy with short arms and great feet and balance every day. Plus, with how mediocre the line is and so many injuries all the time, the guy who can play anywhere is more helpful long term during a rebuild

I know he's cool but is Jamaal like really good at anything that isn't short yardage because his stats sure don't show it

e: this is more directed at the people wondering why he got paid "so little" when I look at his numbers and think "yeah that's probably about right for an RB like that"

He was a very good all around back in GB and seemed to get better in DET

He almost always played second fiddle to Aaron Jones in GB because AJ was more versatile

He got a penalty for taking his helmet off after making the catch and celebrating.

They missed the extra point, and then went to overtime.

He was too cool and fun, and thus ended up losing the game.
