I can't recall a single time when both teams advanced to face each other in a second round in any tourney in at least the last 20 years, save for an occasional conference championship meetup. Either they both lose their first game, or one of them wins and the other one loses. I don't know if it's a curse or a weird coincidence or if the losing team does it on purpose or what, but it is a pattern I've noticed over the years. I actually picked Penn State to win this game in about half of my brackets for exactly this reason.

I am so glad I have Houston getting upset in the Sweet 16. I also have Drake in at least a couple of my Elite Eights and I can't figure out if Houston losing in Round 1 would be better or worse for my bracket scores. On one hand Houston winning gets me more points now; on the other hand Drake has a better chance at getting to the Elite Eight if they play a weaker team in the Sweet 16.
