I used to have a paper on one of those computer models of shell fragments against different types of armour. I know the M577 was used as the target vehicle in tests, but I can't find the full report.  Anyway the gist is that the old Russian 152mm shells produce big rear end fragments, which makes them mathematically sub-optimal as pure anti-personnel weapons, but is bad news bears for M113s.

Though maybe they are spotting and fixing something out of frame and actually does a deadly peek-a-boo with a t62 or similar. I must admit that the M113s look quite nippy for being old hunks of military metal.

If the two messages I've been hearing are both true- 1) Ukraine getting planes will turn the tide of the war, and 2) they've been getting planes for some time already, then it would therefore seem that the war situation is as good for them as it will ever be and won't see improvement based on "additional" equipment being provided. Planes were supposed to make the difference, but whatever difference they're making is already being reflected. Besides nukes, what's even left to give them that could provide a tactical advantage over the Russians?
