Just started doing the Maelstrom quest. Go do activities on Neptune during in one of the vex strand empowered areas ok cool. It sure is nice how every instance is loving dead with absolutely no people in it, patrols give about 4% progress and world quests never spawn.

the GIP bans shouldn't count against anyone but anyway I think Nimbus sucks and they shouldn't have tried to enter the black garden with us and don't deserve to be a cloudstrider because they're super irresponsible

I think it would've been a very interesting swerve if Nimbus had been the one to die and then Rohan had to be like, "ah drat, the cloudstriders are probably over now". You know, put a little urgency in the whole pyramid fleet returning type thing? That no matter what, things will change?

my first RoN clear took 4 hours and 40 minutes, which is crazy, but some of the people I played with tonight had either never raided or last raided in 2017 (!) so I’m happy with it regardless edit: also it feels really nice to trade commendations after a raid 🥺 I got three different Perceptives

Not saying set up to fail exactly, but also there's probably something to be said about getting pumped full of cyber bugs and juice to rapidly grow and poo poo ala the spartan program. The character as written notwithstanding, there's plenty to point at for a militant group that had some loose rockets for drat sure, but aggro weird 80s surfer seemed really out of place when contrasted against the other striders even with how unhinged some were imo. That's another thing though, some parts with nimbus were pretty good I thought, but it was only 2-3 scenes. The fist bump after defeating calus felt so drat wrong. Not just caital though, the fact that we reciprocated just didn't fit with how we've dealt with him over the years and learned the whole story up until now and helped the other characters through some heavy personal poo poo. Fuckin too many words about lore, but drat my murder hobo may make guns out of bads and this could've been handled differently. At least in front of caital. poo poo, it could've been us taking nimbus under wing so to speak and saying "look, we dance in war zones and use swords to blast each other into the environment for a laugh, but some things don't need to be said." Anyway, I hope there's a lot more story this coming week, the seasonal stuff is cool but super short so far.

If you're thinking of what I think you're thinking of, it's not quite like that. At some point in The Past, one of the Cloudstriders opened up a school for prospective 'striders, with the idea that it'd be so tough it'd whittle them down to the one best candidate. Problem is, none of them failed. They didn't have the augments at that point, but did have the training and mentality- so there's this class of people who have the life goal of becoming Cloudstriders, who were fully prepared to die in 10 years, who spent all this time doing military training- but only one got chosen. The others were pissed, because they felt they had their whole lives taken from them (ironically, by not being chosen to die in 10 years). They formed a terrorist group to try and force the city to augment them anyway- obviously that's not going to fly, as anyone who does a terrorism to get power doesn't deserve that power, and the 'Strider who set up the school had to take them out. Nimbus wasn't involved in this- it took place a while ago. The school got reformed to focus more on ethics and... well I don't know how they choose replacement candidates, but presumably they pick one fairly early on instead of having a whole big group get almost to the finish line. Nimbus may have been enrolled in this school, I guess?

The narrative "quality" in Destiny 2 especially stands out if you just dabble in some other games on Steam such as (in no specific order): Paradise Killer Transient (extended edition) - I really like this one SCP: Secret files Observer None of these games are high budget but they're all extremely solid with excellent writing & delivery. True none of them are shooters but still. You can do both, Bungie. You can do both.

The situation with lost sectors is like so egregiously bad. It is astonishing to me that they’ve left it like this. It would be one thing if they were dangling it out as some kind of apex pve activity but they’re gating stuff like mid-level guardian ranks and new exotics behind it, and it’s really loving stupid. The game explicitly messages to you that you should be able to to LLS’s before stuff like raiding through guardian ranks.
