I mean, there's multiple reasons; one is just that obviously he's spiteful toward the poor, but the other is that he, like a lot of conservatives, feel that being poor is a moral failing, and feeding the poor kids, much like housing the homeless, might mean that they'd have to admit that there's more to being poor than just personal responsibility; that there might be, to some small degree, a systemic aspect.

Elon is right. This desperate move by the cabal will backfire spectacularly. The people will rally to Trump’s defense. The Deep State will have shot themselves in their collectivist foot. It’s a terrible move for them. Why? Because this sets a historical precedent that former presidents can be arrested for past alleged crimes. Even those well past their due date. Are Biden and Obama nervous? How about George Bush? What’s good for the presidential goose is good for the presidential gander.
