I've been wanting this set for some time, then finally just got hot nuts and bought them. These are the versions I grew up with, and I absolutely detest the Special Editions and hate that those are the only ones out on Blu-ray and streaming (they butchered A New Hope and the other unnecessary changes they made to them, like swapping out old Anakin for the new one at the end of Jedi even though Obi-Wan is still his older self at the end). This is absolutely an entirely justified use case for piracy. As long as you've paid for some version of the films (I bought them once on VHS and once on DVD), there is nothing to feel bad about.

Yeah... some fans out there have gone and scanned a few theatrical prints at 4k and cleaned them up. Way better than watching a DVD copy that was just a laserdisc transfer.

I love the 4k77 for Star Wars (ep 4), but for Empire and Jedi I like the D+ or Destiny editions, sort of like higher quality versions of the ol' classic Despecialized editions. The 4k83 for Jedi didn't have a great look for me, kind of washed out and I felt a bit disconnected from the footage somehow. Still an amazing feat. And now I've got like 120gb dedicated to this on my hard drive forever. Thanks George, I could've used that space for a video game. The theatrical versions of Star Wars are abandonware, that's what I say. Back in High School I always watched DVD-R laserdisc rips from ebay. I saw the podcast with Kino's acquisition manager where he talked about this. My understanding is that Friedkin is a nightmare to deal with. I wouldn't be surprised if To Live and Die in LA gets cancelled too. Shame because his movies are always worth watching.

sigh, I bought it. the only other fancy pants a24 i bought was last black man in san francisco and that was 50 shipped, somehow this one was now 57 shipped. and i was hoping for a smaller case, but it's the DVD size jam... e: oh, I got hit with multiple local taxes..neat. Kings County Tax New York State Tax Brooklyn City Tax e: if they do this for hereditary and EEAO i think ima stick with my standard versions
