Sexing-up RoboCop was in the original design briefs, both on the production crew and in-universe (though I forget if the original script's comments about that got left on the cutting room floor or not). He looks like a techno-Olympian statue, with all those sculpted muscular lines, while the first draft was more cylindrical and kind of Judge Dredd-y. My understanding is that they started going to definite robo-pervert Sorayama for inspiration. On Alexis Murphy there I see some of Maria from Metropolis, and the whole thing feels pretty much on-brand.
