If I want to do a metalic primer on my army, is Citadel Leadbelcher spray the way to go, or can I go with something cheaper? Place I was looking to order some stuff from has Colour Forge Steelforge Silver Spray if anyone has used their stuff? Looks like someone asked about their range earlier in the thread but no one came back on that.

Painting up some AoS dudes in a Caribbean theme I came up with, forgetting the awful coverage of white.

Actually having fun painting these guys vs my guard, was going a little crazy pushing out dozens of basic troops.

Depending on the price you might want to consider doing black primer (something like Halford's/Rustoleum) and then the metallic colour as a basecoat instead. It'll give you some built in recess shading from the black primer and the can of metallic paint+the generic primer might be even cheaper than the citadel primer+colour combo.

What do you call the shredded sponge stuff that you use to make trees and bushes? I need some, and just can't remember.

Get a cheap food processor at a thrift store and you can make your own for pennies, using craft paint and bulk cheap kitchen sponges

Or you can pay like $7+ for a baggie of coarse foam flock/coarse foliage from woodland scenics or whoever idk it's your choice

Since I'm new to the thread, returning to the hobby after dropping out around 5th ed 40k, here's what I've been doing:

Chaplain, needs a tidy-up pass but seems to have gone well (phone camera may not make it clear the robe is supposed to be white, it's not just bare primer)

Eradicators; Mostly happy with them after some false starts, I originally used red instead of purple and they looked like White Scars which I'm not going for, and I'm still getting the hand of the purple contrast paint, red and yellow will just slap on whilst things like Skeletal Horde work well with a 1/1 mix with contrast medium. With a bit more testing I think purple wants a 2/1 mix and a couple of coats. I think I also want to think of some marking to put on the right arm or leg to break up the otherwise unbroken white, not sure yet.

I'm doing Primaris in my own colours but old marines as Dark Angels. I did some Deathwing but would need to move them out of my Detolf to photograph them, also this terminator Chaplain,

Really like contrast paint, getting some very pleasing results from them. Makes all the white and bone very simple, and should be good for Dark Angel standard green when I do some of them. Good for stuff like chest aquilas as well. Actually already thinking about a few other projects before I properly finalize an army when 10th ed is out, I used to play Thousand Sons and would like to do some of their Terminators in a new metallic scheme.

All of this owns. Contrast paint seems like it rocks and I'll have to pick up some.

My next project is now to get caught up on my space marines, which actually also has me working on some aggressors as well, for some reason they feel comfortable and easy to do, though, I'm still struggling with following along with some techniques like glazing, painting shadows within capes, even after all this time

Tested my Thousand Sons scheme on an HH Ahriman I had. Color scheme, not scheme scheme.

Kind of regret straining my eyes for the yellow and blue stripes, I think red and silver would have gone better. Also really should have left the backpack and cape off.

I highly recommend propping a sheet of white paper or placing your minis against a blank wall, stabilizing your camera somehow (kickstand on a case, tablet/phone holder, etc) then if you're using autofocus make sure that the subject is actually focused on. Holding a tiny miniature in one hand and then taking a picture of it with your other hand is a recipe for disaster! I can't see the colourful paint on 2/3rds of your photos!

Now all I have to do is paint another exact copy on the other side. That's the part that really terrifies me.

Got back into collecting and painting during COVID, last time before that was back in the late 90/early 2000's.

It's been quite fun catching up with all the new paints, techniques and so on.

A couple of pages ago someone posted their kit-bashed 'weird little guys'. Inspired by this I tried kit-bashing my own 'fancy' weird little guys out of my pile of shame.

Not sure what to do with them but they were fun to put together and paint.

What can I do to bring this banner to the next level? I know I need to go back over some of the top layer to even out the color, but other than some dinge on the bottom layer near the tear I can't think of what to do next. (Ignore the lanterns, those aren't done yet)

Also, here are my last two war dogs fully built. I just wanted to show them off.
