It's legit funny how at no point in the last decade has the center been the best player on the championship team.

and 7 out of 10 years they were all small forwards so all the other positions must not really matter. And two of those two non-small forward years were won by a guy who was eclipsed by his team's small forward for the years where he was playing next to another mvp-quality player, and on one of those non-small forward years the player in question wasn't actually the best player on his team according to finals mvp voting (which went to his small forward teammate) so really giannis is the only non-small forward player in the past decade who isn't a fraud. first ballot hall of famer for performing a feat equivalent to the right tackle being the most impactful player on an nfl team

The statistics say that you need a good small forward to win and nothing else really matters. the finals mvp voters recognized this when they gave the 2015 award to iggy over curry despite the lies told by the box scores

no the analysis is that a good center is not necessary to win a championship, and that good centers do not carry their teams to championships.

if anything, the data shows that having a stiff at center is not an impediment either so if you're a GM and you have a choice about where to spent money, a center is the last thing you care about, since those champion starting centers are the kinds of guys available to be signed every off-season to reasonable contracts.

the fact that it was only in 2021 that they started giving finals mvp awards to point guards and power forwards shows that it is directly due to the moral rot caused by joe biden's inauguration

Andre does not try hard. he has a very nice big body, wonderful hands, and is strong. he should have learned to shoot but he did not. his feet are not particularly quick (could be effort) which limits his ability to play center. hes a good passer but gets reckless sometimes. he’s ok in the regular season for 15 mins or so a game.

my euph-style hot take is that he's actually the most important player on this celtics team, aside from MAYBE Tatum

He's still averaging 26 points on 18 shots per game in his last five and that's despite being cold from 3

Him and Horford are super important to shore up rim protection and rebounding. Tatum had been struggling but seemed to remember he has a good handle and very good finishing at the rim.
