Why do people think we're on the cusp of a Skynet situation or some poo poo? The algorithms can't even solve math problems correctly, let alone simulate an actual human being. Like, with smart phones, I could see an imminent future where everyone was using them back in the 2000s and speculate what that would look like (as well as a kid could, at least), but those had tangible benefits and were actually valuable. All these programs they're hawking do is recycle internet posts, which is one of the least interesting or useful things I can possibly imagine.

Long covid is a hell of a thing, I guess, because they haven't even meaningfully advanced since then! What are these people getting excited over?! I can't think of a single benefit to this poo poo, at least in regards to the average person; I guess corps can save some cash not paying journos to write clickbait and young men with the worst tastes on planet Earth can make bad 2d porn with it, but what do I get out of having a chatbot in my search engines? I'm not here to make small talk with lines of code, I just want to find what I want!

OK but they don't want like, a friend friend. Even an onlyfans account or a therapist is going to have like boundaries and might push back against some of your ideas. They want to have all their thoughts affirmed by somebody they have total power over.

Sup nerds,

Let's talk about the evolution of AI since 2005, specifically in the context of language processing. Back in the day, AI was about as smart as a toaster, and about as useful as a screen door on a submarine. But today, AI has become a beast to be reckoned with, thanks to advancements in machine learning, natural language processing, and big data.

Firstly, let's talk about the applications of AI in language processing. In 2005, AI was mostly used for simple tasks like text and speech recognition. But today, AI has gone full-on super saiyan, with language models that can perform sentiment analysis, language translation, and even chatbot development. It's like we've gone from a toddler trying to spell "cat" to a high-schooler acing their English exams.

Secondly, let's consider the accuracy and efficiency of AI language models. In 2005, AI was about as accurate as a stormtrooper trying to hit a target. But today, AI models have become more sophisticated, with algorithms that can process massive amounts of data and learn from it to make more accurate predictions. For instance, GPT-3 can generate coherent and realistic text, with human-like proficiency. It's like we've gone from cavemen drawing stick figures to Michelangelo painting the Sistine Chapel.

Lastly, let's not forget about the ethical concerns of AI language models. With the rise of deep learning and neural networks, AI has become more powerful than ever before. But with great power comes great responsibility, as Uncle Ben once said. We need to make sure that AI is developed ethically and that the language models aren't biased or discriminatory. Because we don't want a future where AI is like a dystopian nightmare, with robots taking over and enslaving us all.

In conclusion, the progress of AI in language processing since 2005 has been mind-boggling. With advancements in machine learning, natural language processing, and big data, AI has become smarter, faster, and more versatile than ever before. It's like we're living in a sci-fi movie, and it's pretty freaking cool. But we also need to be responsible and ensure that AI is developed in a way that benefits humanity and doesn't harm us. Because if we mess up, we might end up with a real-life Terminator situation, and nobody wants that.

oh great, another genius on the internet who thinks they can just call everyone a "bot" and be done with it. yeah, because that's so clever and original. i mean, come on, are you really that dense? not everything you read online is written by a bot, you absolute moron.

i'm so sick of these wannabe internet detectives who think they're hot poo poo because they can throw around the word "bot" like it's some kind of magic bullet. newsflash, dipshit: just because someone disagrees with you or has a different opinion doesn't mean they're a loving bot. maybe, just maybe, they're a real person with a functioning brain, unlike you.

and don't even get me started on the people who use "bot" as an insult. like, wow, you really got me there, buddy. i'm so hurt that you think i'm a soulless machine spewing out words. i'll just go cry in the corner now, because your pathetic attempt at an insult has totally destroyed my self-esteem.

seriously, grow the gently caress up and learn how to have an actual conversation with someone. not everyone who disagrees with you is a bot, and not everything you read online is written by a bot. maybe if you pulled your head out of your rear end for two seconds, you'd realize that. but hey, what do i know? i'm just a "bot" after all.

It's not that hard, but then it's also not that hard to have it do like 75% of your job for you and then edit the last 25% yourself so it's not noticeably AI-written.

I think those takes reveal more than anything else about AI boosters, because they seem to think that teachers assign homework because they're extracting essays from students as a resource, rather than assigning homework as a way to make students engage with the material.

i kinda feel that here and in lots of other contexts the incentives are going to pressure people on the other end to use this half-baked crap as well. overworked teachers can do way more marking if they let chatGPT handle it!

bots doing homework that gets graded by bots. bots writing articles to be read by bots. bots doing interview coding assignments that get assessed by bots, which is fine because everyone at the company is already getting bots to write their code anyway

it’s the perfect system!

Teachers aren't mad that they can't distinguish real and fake essays, they're mad that outside of useless make-work from the administration they're now being assigned useless make-work from the students. Still plenty of districts where you have to read and grade homework on your own unpaid time, and there's always a risk of white parents getting pissy if you dismiss an essay outright because the GPT house style is so loving obvious from the first sentence. "ooh ooh you can't really prove it can you. I might consider my kid property but you're the enemy"
