Doomykins posted:

I'm still not entirely sure why Sally and Ted don't tell Horrible Mother that she can stay with them because they support her as family but stop talking and to respond to any abrasiveness with their own.

Ok, that's not really healthy, but they don't need any support from her or anything...? Then again I feel like maybe Horrible Mom needs a healthy dose of shaming to get her mind inching towards "wait a second, nobody wants anything to do with me!"

Sure, she'll determine that everybody else is wrong and not her, but.. eh!
People like that never get better. And just because you share some DNA with them does not make you obligated to deal with their bullshit. Huck her rear end into the volcano and save themselves and everyone else the trouble, that's what I say they should do.

Doomykins posted:

Kind of weird that Archie will run for decades after these strips proved that Betty is the girl you want in your corner, and so early! Marry a partner that'll kick somebody like that for talking trash about you!
That's the staying power of Manufactured Dramatm, my friend.

I'm quite fond of Dark Side of the Horse too. It's one of those strips that just kind of quietly hits its gags most of the time, like Andertoons.
Yeah, it does with elevator and sheep-counting gags what Andertoons does with powerpoint gags.

A tract is a "traktaatti" in Finnish. A tractor is a "traktori". It kinda works!

Huh, I hadn't heard that term before. I suspected there might be a rare word like "trakti" used but I'd imagine that tracts would usually just be called "pamphlets" or something like that.

Yeah chalk that one up to a youth spent handing out tracts as a Jehovah's Witness.

In case it isn't obvious, they are out picking mushrooms, and it's always a good idea to carry a guide book with you if you're not sure of what you're doing. Many toxic mushrooms look almost identical to the safe ones, if you don't know what subtle warning signs to look for.
