Spent two weeks in Melbourne, Aus at the start of the month. There's still too many cars but it's incredible being somewhere with modern infrastructure after wasting 30 years of my life in the american south. I think I saw more people walking and biking in those two weeks than in my entire life to date. Half a dozen parks, trails, river paths, even stores and restaurants all within a mile and easily walkable from my girlfriend's house. Oh and every single suburb i went through had endless amounts of roundabouts and speed bumps so cars never went over like 15 mph anywhere people live. Incredibly stark contrast from how people zoom 60 mph down the highway access road that my apartments street connects to lol. Cannot wait until I live there

Cannot wait until I live there Granted, usually other anglosphere countries are not as bad as the US itself, Canada is close. But I have to give some credit to Australia in that they actually do seem to be making some genuine improvements in larger cities. It sounds like mostly still a cartopia but they are at least expanding train and metro service in Sydney and Melbourne still has one of the largest tram networks in the world.

Giant Hulk Hogan doing 9/11 at least adds something to make a joke, even if somebody might find that joke edgy or distasteful. To me there's a pretty clear difference between that and somebody just posting an unedited video of 9/11 and saying "lol those people deserved to die for riding on an airplane, let's all post our favourite plane crashes"

going to be a one car household soon. it has been an adjustment since my wife was diagnosed with her seizure disorder, but we've both become more familiar navigating the city by bus and bike. the integration of Bus routes into google maps is something more people should be made aware of because I don't think most people realize how easy it has become to ask your phone how to get somewhere by bus and get perfect directions to do so.
