Honestly the most distressing part of the video was learning there are only ~160 daily users in EQ2. My teenage MMO of choice is completely, 100% dead. :smith:

Dang I figured EQ2 was quiet nowadays but 160 is grim. Project 1999 has like, 10x more than that on a good day if you count all servers!

The Planetside 2 numbers were definitely concurrent users.

the implication here is that the discussion of what shows are isekai is somehow a serious one and not tongue in cheek

i also meant that as a component of the portal fantasy, not that any show in which someone's life gets better is an isekai, that's very silly even for a silly discussion
That's fair, but with the way the word gets thrown around, it really can apply to just about anything - and besides, we all know how much trouble the internet can get into when it begins arguing taxonomy of exclusivity.

goldenninjawarrior posted:

Isekai is just The Brothers Lionheart right? That book that made me cry as a child? Is that what's being described here?
Astrid Lindgren supposedly based the book on a grave she saw in a cemetery, as well as how the older brother of the kid who played Emil would protect his younger brother.

Also, the song that plays in Nangilima in the movie is forever stuck in my head, even when I've re-read the book.
And yeah, I think it makes most kids (and adults) cry.

idk if this site is accurate or not but when I googled it this is saying the daily users is closer to ~3K which is still kinda grim particularly when you figure that probably includes both the TLE and regular servers, but definitely better than 160.

-'The metaverse is inevitable, and Gen Z wants to work in it'
-'Nobody wants to work anymore!'
-'Our school is on the blockchain with its own token'
-'The most meaningful form of self expression is in brand purchasing decisions'

There was an unbelievable amount of metaverse/NFT idiocy on display overall that prompted me to make the trip report video. Did not go this year though. Absolutely wild to be surrounded by people who earnestly believed in this poo poo.

The Woolie guest episode of Bizarre Podcast was awesome! I loved Woolie and Reggie’s playthrough it Thousand Year Door.

Personally the JJBA video game I’d love to see, that will never ever happen, is Traveller’s Tales presents Lego JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure.

EDIT: One of the reasons I like this idea is that I think the way those games implement boss fights, where you land a few hits on a boss and then they move somewhere else and you have to bypass an obstacle before you can hit them again, would suit the major stand fights very well.

To me the real question is why did CJ keep helping OG Loch with his idiot plans to kickstart his rap career? I get that because they're both part of the Grove Street Crew there's a degree of obligation on CJ's part to look out for his fellow gang members, but I also feel like when your homie asks you to steal a famous rapper's rhyme book and assassinate his manager for little to no reason beyond "I deserve to be a successful rapper!" I think you're within your rights to say no to that.

They grew up together, and CJ knew he wasn't cut out for being a gangster. If he didn't help him he'd probably go out and get himself killed eventually; better for CJ to help him out. It's not until later CJ realizes what a snake he is, and how chill Madd Dogg is.

I mean, I feel like that rationale only goes as far as CJ helping him get a sound system for his party. Once he starts asking you to steal a rhyme book from a successful rapper I CJ's within his rights to suggest maybe Loc should just sit down and actually come up with some actual songs himself. I could maybe buy CJ helping Loc out if he had some kind of unique opportunity to actually kickstart his career but as it stands Loc's initial mission tree is basically...

"Hey CJ! I wanna throw a lovely house party and I need you to loving ruin a random celebrity's life for me!"
"Okay, but how is that going to help yo-"
"Quit asking questions and go gently caress Mad Dogg's poo poo up! Kill his whole family!"
