The export total helped narrow it down for me as I don't think there's too many pacific islands that go that high. The bullshit Hong Kong one really made me rethink how I approach this

It wasn't too bad, you realize it can only be one or two countries as everything that's around it is way too high or low

#Tradle #388 1/6 🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩 https://oec.world/en/tradle Weird chart on this one. I thought maybe it was like a middleman scenario, like a baby Switzerland, but the rest of the chart suggests nah, this is mining. I know that a lot of gold mining happens in Southeast Asia/Oceania, but I think that all the countries there do too much business total. Where’s the petroleum? The palm oil? So I turned my attention to the north coast of South America, where I know that gold mining has been done for a long time. I might have chosen Guyana, but that was the answer just a few days ago, or French Guiana, but it’s not broken out like Hong Kong is. So I win by the game mechanics eliminating other options, and for all I know there’s some other place I’m not thinking about with a similar volume of gold mining. yeah this surprised me a bit. despite reading a good piece on those mines in le monde diplomatique not that long ago, i didn't realise that it was such a huge part of their economy. i rather stupidly tried some of the island nations first, so it took me four tries where it probably should've taken me two

Continent top exports, major spoilers I guess: I didn’t know that there were that many with gold as a top export. The former Gold Coast, now Ghana is not a great match.

I keep starting with Mongolia for some dumb reason and that meant it took me 5 tries today because I had to get to the right world region via two guesses in Africa, then got unlucky by guessing Guyana before Suriname.

#Tradle #NaN 2/6 🟩🟩🟩🟨⬜ 🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩 https://oec.world/en/tradle Goddammit I almost guessed that first. Would have been two in a row, albeit totally cheating by looking at the map of African primary exports yesterday. e: Angola, my first guess, Has an economy two and a half times as large and no appreciable gold exports, so I deserved to lose with that guess. I might also have been tipped off by the missing diamond exports.
