well, I mean. That's just an unfair comparison, since Lufia 2 is on par with final fantasy 6 and chrono trigger in quality. Better, in some aspects.

lufia 2 has everything: insanely good bgm. huge boss sprites. pet system where you feed them and they evolve. casino with cool rear end rewards. the ancient cave minigame.

easily one of the best turn based jrpgs of all time. the only thing it needed was breath of fire style town building minigame

I only played Lufia 1 but it was dope, also one time as a kid I passed out out of nowhere and distinctly remember seeing Daos' sprite in a void while unconscious and the doctors never figured out why it happened even after multiple days of tests

I don't really know why I shared that but there it is. My point is Lufia 1 owns

Lufia 1 is real rough around the edges and is one of the grindiest SNES RPGs i have ever played... still loved enough to beat the thing. that said Lufia 2 is such an improvement in every way, Danaru, you gotta play it

Yeah if you never played RE4 and don't like the idea of somewhat dated mechanics (shitloads of QTEs since it kinda invented those, have to stop to shoot mainly) then the remake is probably the way to go. The original was pretty near perfect as was and the remake doesn't really make it worse in any way outside of some minor things.

Not Lowtax, but admins used to have the ability to post arbitrary HTML because someone at vBulletin circa-turn-of-the-milennium thought that was a good idea, and occasionally you'd open a thread to find that an admin had given it a unique stylesheet and embedded music.

Someone needs to just copy the entire ancient cave system and replace the sprites to avoid a lawsuit

Just clone it. Just do it!!!! I will pay good money for it!

Play 2! It fixes everything wrong with the first plus has one of the best roguelikes of all time as a minigame that bafflingly somehow nobody has ever copied! And of course it expands the story of the prologue of 1 in meaningful ways

Also the last duel is my all time favorite video game music track. Thoughtlong and hard about it, but it is. It's so ridiculously heroic, melancholic, it's the music of saving the world when you know there's no turning back. Literally the only thing wrong is they didn't set it to play over the battle theme instead of interrupting it for every random battle
