DDT Goes Yokohama! ~ Blow up Hollywood! ~ April 1st MOTYC Kazuki Hirata vs Invisible Man - Or, Hirata flails around for 10 minutes while ref Matsui reacts. Hirata rules, he's a lower card guy that is able to go hard when he occasionally travels up the card but is consistently one of the best comedy wrestlers i've ever seen HM MJ Paul vs Masashi Takeda HARASHIMA and Hikaru Sato vs Shuten-doji (Masahiro Takanashi and Yukio Sakaguchi) Hideki Okatani vs Yoi Kojima vs Yuya Koroku - Tomoe Battle Really fun show put on by the guys that didn't go to America for WM weekend

So, 3 months into 2023 and that means it's an appropriate time to dump some stats from my spreadsheet. I can say I have watched 159 shows, & my 2 watch list is 23 shows but also it's totally incomplete because there's some stuff like 16 Carat & BOLA that I don't have on there for whatever reason. Not to mention all the insane quantities of wrestling happening in LA this week. I can also tell you that I have watched 711 matches from this year. But 38 of those 159 I've only watched 1 or 2 matches from. Also the 2 shows I watched the most matches on are GLEAT Ver.5 & the All Star Junior Festival, with 10 a piece. I don't have a running total for how many matches by each promotion I did, I should really workout how to do things like "search for a term & then count it" in Google Sheets but I'm lazy at learning things. From those 159 shows I've got 88 MOTYC nominations, 151 HM nominations & 5 WMOTYC nominations, with 20 different companies having MOTYCs, 25 having HM nominations & only 2 companies with WMOTYC nominations. I'll also add that the companies I have seen the most shows from this year have been Dragongate & New Japan, each tied on 23, but with the huge caveat that there have been a lot of shows from both where I watch just 1 or 2 matches, where as I have seen every single All Japan match from the 13 shows they've run. In fact I've had 18 ****½ matches, & 61 ****¼, which are the 4 ratings I give MOTYC nods to. HMs are **** (51) & ***¾ (100). Kento Miyahara & Yuma Aoyagi are the only wrestlers to have had at least 1 match at all 6 ratings I give nods to. All Japan & New Japan being the only companies I've given ***** & WMOTYC nominations some how feels like pleasing accidental symmetry. In conclusion, if you're not watching Kento Miyahara & Yuma Aoyagi matches you're a loving dingus, that's my opinion anyway.

GCW Springbreak 7: MOTYC: El Hijo del Vikingo vs Speedball Mike Bailey- an excellent show case of acrobatics and flippy do's nthing MOTYC: Murder Death Kawaii vs Bussy - This match was way too hype HM: Kota Ibushi vs Joey Janela - I might have been deliriously tired watching this, but watching joey cry tears of blood at the end kinda got to me ROH Supercard of Honor 2023: MOTYC: El Hijo Del Vikingo vs Komander - Vikingo basically had back to back MOTYC in the same day with two completely different opponents. Just a show case of flippy do's and weirdly enough mat wrestling. MOTYC: Eddie vs Claudio - Excellent story telling HM: Shibata vs Yuta - Excellent story telling of Yuta getting way too big for his britches and getting utterly destroyed by The Wrestler where Yuta is shown to be completely out classed in every single pure category. HM: Reach for the sky ladder match -
