Obviously I'm against crunch time but I honestly enjoyed having one show lead to another. Gives me a reason to keep Disney plus anyway.

There had been too many shows but now we're waiting eight months between She-Hulk and Secret Invasion, if the rumors are true.

I mean, early on they seemed to consider the Marvel and Star Wars shows to pull the same audience and scheduled accordingly so if we assume Ahsoka is coming this year it's not as big a gap

Wandavision had some real questionable lines and a big CGI wizard punch em up in its last couple episodes, but it also had Vision beating himself with a philosophical argument so I gotta begrudgingly hit the Twas Good button

I think mostly the worst parts of FatWS were due to the sudden appearance of COVID power bombing the production. They had to axe a big subplot about the refugee camps being wracked with illness and the government withholding vaccines or poisoning vaccines or something. It gave the Flag smashers a lot more context and gave them a reason to blow up a building full of restrained guards that was less like "idk lol time for these characters to be evil for no reason cause they're making too much sense in the narrative" and more "this building full of fascists was directly and knowingly responsible for the mass death of imprisoned refugees, this is justice"

Was that ever confirmed anywhere? I know people were saying it a lot back during its initial airing but as far as I remember it never got past a theory that everyone agreed made way too much sense. Like I said I would not doubt one minute that that's what happened, just curious to know if anyone actually involved with production has confirmed.

Sort of. There were a bunch of different things:

- The actress who played Mama Donya said she was supposed to be in 4 episodes originally and that the halfway house she ran was supposed to be a makeshift hospital.
- They extended the shooting of the show by multiple months for unspecified reshoots.
- A bunch of reports from the time mentioned rewrites for "sensitivity" to real world issues.
- They had extended ADR recording to redub parts of the show that was much longer than typical ADR (assumed to be editing out mentions of virus or sickness).
- There was a leak that the Flag Smashers had superhuman powers and used a dirty bomb to spread a biological weapon.

The writer also mentioned how insanely unlucky they were. The show shot half in Atlanta and half in the Czech Republic and the shooting in the Czech Republic literally started in March of 2020, but they had to retool the show afterwards and stop production. Also, the name of the production company they set up for the show (which was chosen in early 2019 way before Covid) was "Pandemic Productions."

But... the director of the show swears up and down that the final version of the show was his original vision and there was no cut/rushed/rewritten content.

In the final version, those dudes were still deliberately withholding resources that were meant for the refugees, so even if the whole vaccine thing is true, everything still played out pretty much the same.

The withholding stuff story line is more impactful when it is vaccines and medicine instead of, like, 3 trucks full of blankets or something.

I don't want to derail with actual humanitarian concerns, and I 100% support giving asylum and support to refugees, but sending out superheroes did not feel like a cost effective solution to stuff being stolen from refugees, unless they are going to punch policy makers.

They were also going to shoot in Puerto Rico and then the island got flattened by hurricanes so that went out the window.
