Velocity Raptor posted:So my own dumb rear end can follow along, who are we rooting for in Chicago and WI? Brandon is the more progressive mayor. Vallas is the police-approved centrist choice. In Wisconsin, most people who are lurking these totally-not-dead forums will want Janet Protasiewicz to win. Daniel Kelly is the GOP choice and has worked with organizations to justify the case for overturning election results that the Republicans don't like.

State Senate race in some suburbs north of Milwaukee (Mequon/Germantown or something like that, who the gently caress knows with our bullshit maps) - basically if the chud wins the republicans will have a super majority in the state senate and are already threatening to impeach the new SC judge for ~reasons~. If the dem can somehow pull it off in a stupidly gerrymandered district it would be a miracle.

I don’t think they can do any sort of impeachment. If they can, I dare them. Wisconsin will burn as a result, lol.

If nothing else this is a good sign for Dems in general. They basically haven't stopped overperforming in most elections since Trump rose to power and it's reassuring to see that still happening, considering how much everything sucks right now.

I don't know if the Wisconsin State Senate race is going to go for the Dems, though. How likely will impeachment be if the GOP candidate wins? drat. It looks like a nailbiter. https://www.nytimes.com/interactive...c®ion=NavBar It switched leads just when I was typing this out.

There's a measure on the ballot statewide in WI that asks if the state consitutuon should be amended to put a non-partisan map drawing in place, but we've not determined in my household if it's suppsed to be binding or just a sugestion to the legistalutre. It's winning overwhelming tho.

It's winning overwhelming tho. I'm seeing that it's not a statewide one and it's advisory only. The three statewide ones appear to be two to allow Judges more power to set cash bail, and one just asking to affirm that requiring people seeking welfare to look for jobs is good (All three are winning handily).

That might be your local county or something like that. I didn't see anything like that on my ballot here in Milwaukee Co - there were three questions that were statewide from the republicans that were poo poo like "should there be work requirements for welfare", one about cash bail, and one other along those lines. Then there was a Milwaukee County non-binding referendum that was like 'should abortion be legal in the state of WI'?

The (technically non-binding because federal law won't let them impose a work requirement for Medicaid) work requirement for any state benefits ballot measure in Wisconsin s winning 79 to 21.
