It's especially hilarious because if he was prepared and had done good journalism, this would have been a great way to signal boost. As it is though, the pathetic flailing and whataboutism comes across extremely poorly, because Taibbi should be focusing on his own work because that's what the segment on a national network is about. Trying to pivot to unrelated topics is frankly incredibly stupid even before you get to how badly he tried to do it.

Gets you a hell of a lot further than trying to be the smartest most talky person in the room.
