I remember around that time Bomi mentioned on her vlogs a lot that their audience typically skewed a little younger and more personally conservative than most other groups, so it was an effort to change as their fanbase got a bit older and more mature too. I guess you might be right though, Girl Crush might not be the right term. This one definitely swings back more to the bright optimism end of things though. I saw PIXY yesterday! Was at an intimate club venue with pretty loud speakers. Their music is just so good! The crowd really loved Sua and Dajeong, and Lola killed the raps(haha no one did the Satbyeol raps… I’m still bummed about her and Ella).

I'm trying to understand to concept. So they'll just essentially be putting the contestants on some kind of weekly "random" group composition process? I get that they've got a TV show to put on, but it definitely seems like a thing where careers could get hurt and people are going to get very publicly sued.

Its still completely useless IMO. Voting systems have been used in jpop for decades without the need for the blockchain nonsense. Blockchain, even when used for something practical, is nothing more than a middleman for tech bros to grift from. The Cosmo app and card packs of real/digital photo cards giving votes for the groups activities is novel and genuinely cool, there's just zero benefit to having it all on the blockchain. Ive album is pretty good overall. None of the bsides stand out as much as the singles but they're still all solid tracks. Kitsch and I Am have the best production I've heard in kpop in a while. New Jeans have the cool r&b sound perfected but Ive have the maximal full sound nailed and it's come out more with each comeback. The chorus on I Am is incredible with the layered gang vocals, rock instruments, and synths. Just pure ear candy. Both songs overtook Eleven as my fav Ive song as well, and I suspect Kitsch will end up on top.

There've been a lot of comments around New Jeans making all other kpop sound immediately dated and I think Ive is the best response to it, exactly for what you said. Their concept would be so easy to mess up but they've pretty consistently nailed it each time. That said this album has their first songs I'm not a huge fan of, but I guess in a full album that's inevitable. I Am is probably my favorite song of theirs yet, and 섬찟 and Blue Blood are definitely in the mix too.
