I do wish we could reach a state where every criticism of posts, specific posting behavior, overly-permissive modding, etc. could just be co-posters being concerned and not "an attack on ~my forum/thread~ by An Enemy Stand" but I don't know what can be done about that. The political discussion spaces seem to get that pretty bad, maybe just from the way political discourse pushes people into rigid binaries online? I dunno, I guess that is beyond the scope of this thread, too.

Moderators should be moderators to discussion, not referees throwing people in the penalty box. Many people have pointed out this problem - that D&D mods are way too quick to use their buttons in discussions like these, and it comes across as the mods wanting to get their point in without letting the other person respond. Probations should be for when someone is being obviously obnoxious or offensive, or actual rule breaking, not just "didn't phrase your argument correctly". It's especially noticeable in this thread which already has a history of questionable mod actions.
