I forgot I left off with an Asgard fleet sweeping the Xenon from the north to save the Yaki for no reason

And also that I had the united paranid go to war with everyone for the profits their culture

And that I just own all but like two split sectors from when both factions got rolled by the Xenon lmao I'm a powerhouse

BTW, since it's been in beta a while, are there multiple plots in the dlc, or just one overarching one? Or does no one outside like one preview streamer really know?

Oh my god my fleets are actually, finally, doing their jobs now

Except the auxillary ship that flew directly into an I, but other than that, they're actually working! The carrier hung behind the Asgards, and the fighters picked off the enemy fighters and corvettes! The Asgards will engage stations at maximum range!

e: lol my Seven Asgard fleet is extreme overkill for the march to Savage Spur now. The game's way better optimized now too and it looks like most of my traders are doing their jobs better as well

Same. I tried picking all the beacons up again, but now it isn't generating any quest objectives. So I thought that taking a new quest might get it to reset, but I can't talk to the Boron I'm supposed to be transporting.

So , DID the mad boys actually manage to sorta kinda pull it off?

I watched some guy play on stream and busted a gut laughing when the Space Station creator now has a gizmo with translation and rotation axis's for your poo poo .
"Finally" I thought, the space station creator now has the same basic features that the software used to 3d model the individual components also had.

And apparently ships now can aim and fire charge-up guns like Mass Drivers and those Teladi Muon guns?

If they fixed it I guess enough assholes like me complained about it ?

I mean, it's still sorta funny that it took them till version 6.0 to stop capital ships from running into stations, but I might actually re-install it if it means I don't have to slam my head on the desk on every attack order.

The station builder used to be 3d but you could not rotate any modules. A lot less creativity in station building. 4.5 or so added the feature but it was without any indicators so it was annoying to wrap your head around.

I got it right after bitching about it. If you take the route on the right, not the left works better.

Also auto pilot seems to navigate around the unsafe areas quite well so you can just drop nav beacons while doing that too.

It's really funny watching all my "we can't do that" orders from my last save magically clear up and now I make an extra 100 mil a simulated hour lmao. Based on build orders at my stations too every faction is more alive.

This is great maybe I should restart after all

e: That said I have noticed a couple glaring bugs - you can't pilot battleships anymore. 1. If you get in the cockpit of your Asgards, the engines cut you and you're locked in place, which sucks because 2. Xenon Is are occasionally invincible now. They're also aware of this and ram you. Lol. I think both bugs are related to teleporting in and the game trying to resolve IS/OOS stuff at the same time and everything else locking up while it does. If you fly in from out of sector instead everything works fine. One particular one is currently conquering the northern half of the galaxy, which is mostly empty after the last hellwar and liberation

Forgot about the need to save pretty often when you're fragile.

I placed the nav beacons and was like, "well what now" and started to fly back to the previous sector. On the way back I saw the freighter and its escorts and was like 'hey cool I'll just follow them, they won't plot armor their way through a hazardous region after I just placed a path of nav beacons for them right? ... right guys?"

Died and had to reload an earlier save and have to place the beacons again.

I claim ignorance if I'm wrong but you can access that campaign w/o using it as a start (I figured this out just a couple minutes ago) so maybe the streamer's just using an already-in-progress save?

Edit: Oh yeah I just accepted the mission and it just slips me into the new start's campaign, so maybe that's what streamer is doing. It certainly means I'll progress this way instead of starting anew with a crap ship in a save I won't keep anyway.

I watched a fight taking place in front of me between a handful of fighters and some larger ship and put on the live stream option to watch it in action and ... it refused to notice that this battle was occurring. Give it a couple more options like "look for fighting" and "stick to one place for longer" and it'll be a really awesome feature to use for, like, second monitor background noise. Now, more than ever, does this game's engine need to allow audio while alt-tabbed.

No, the guy I was watching has used a fresh save. He is new to X4 and arguably worse than me, which is saying something.

He was using the same fighter etc. I can only assume it's some mod thing from the trading scripts etc I'm using but it seems odd they would touch that.

Regardless I'm about to finish the quest line then I think I will restart with the other boron start, but with even less than the 10 minor mods I'm using now.

Maybe I'll just the crystal mods and the repair fleet one to make early game less grindy and leave it at that.

Oh man, I absolutely don't have time to dive back into X4 properly right now, but wow you're making me want to! I haven't looked at derelicts in a while, but there should be a sparking control panel near the hatch? The location of the hatch varies depending on the ship though... it's generally either on top behind the bridge/cockpit, at the rear (if it's like, a medium-sized ship) or around the middle down the bottom. (If it's for a new Boron ship though... not sure. I think whatever the purple/systems view mode is called might help point out where it is?)

Yeah other than the teleport bug I hit locking up player controls in larger ships it's been great

Also pretty deadly! My wars have cost me a carrier, two asgards (rip to that one guy who was just invincible slamming in), 60 fighters (holy poo poo was that a lot of fighters and corvettes) in the last few hours. It's been pretty dynamic after what seemed like days of stasis

There is a little drop down option on the starts so perhaps you can select boron in the second start? I think you default to argon though.

E: no it says on the queen's herald start that your character is boron, the first kingdom end scenario has you on the commonwealth side trying to connect to kingdom end though, so you don't play a boron in that one.
