Henry Puppy just had his 2 week post-surgery checkup. All is well! Stitches have been removed, the cone is off (unless he starts messing with the injury, which currently he is not). He got many, many cuddles without the cone, and I just brushed him all over. I also trimmed his fringe, which helps keep his long hair out of his eyes. The vet is extremely happy with his progress; apparently his native caution is very much a benefit at the moment. He needs to take things gently, and he is doing so, right on plan. He has a mystery power which makes him able to leap 4 feet vertically when no one is looking. I go to sleep with him in his little bed in my bedroom, and I wake up with a bossy little dog snuggled in beside me under the covers. This morning, he was tucked in all cosy beside me, still wearing the cone, and he got too warm. He was panting like crazy, but he still didn't want to get out of the bed. Overheating in bed with his family was preferable to a more comfortable heat alone  He is a sweet darling little precious, and I need to take more pictures. His fluffy front and nudey butt alone require being recorded for ahem, posterity Edit: I should point out, that when anyone was looking, Henry struggled to climb up 4 inches, he certainly struggled with 1.5 feet. How he repeatedly leapt 4 feet in total darkness will be, forever, a mystery.* *(Henry is a big ol ham and loves to be the tragic centre of attention) Just realized my last picture of Henry was a confusing swirl of weird hair, so here is an explanatory picture

Thanks again for all the Henry love , it really is greatly appreciated. It was pretty awful to see him so unhappy, watching him recover is just lovely and knowing other people are happy about it is super-heartwarming  Rogaine comment: the vet actually said his hair is growing back weirdly fast and that we should try marketing Henry hair serum as a hair loss therapy.
