I still see the odd freedom-mobile driving around Ottawa, not sure what they're up to honestly.

I saw a group of 4 people wearing the standard issue canadian flag cape wear on Rideau a while ago also. Similarly confused as to where they were going or what they were doing.

At this point I assume it's just for the feeling of community, kind of like church services. Except that they have stupid clothing requirements.

remember when the canada flag cape was just "oh you're having a REALLY GOOD canada day, eh?" :smith:

Which sucks but is also...fine. I don't have a huge attachment to the flag or anything.

It's absolutely insane from start to finish. Apparently a minority government propped up by the NDP is a dictatorship trampling Canadian's human rights (to own guns). Also the recent election in which literally 6 seats changed hands was completely rigged by the Chinese.

Also why can't CanCon protect us from this poo poo. Or is CanCon Tucker basically just Jorp?

Cancon Tucker is Ezra Levant. Jorp is Canadian Ben Shapiro.

I agree, and I do find it bizarre how quickly that sentiment seems to have come out of just a couple of weeks of the CHUDs running amok in Ottawa. Obviously there were plenty of people before the convoy to whom the Canadian flag has always been a symbol of racist colonial tragedy, but I think if you polled 'average Canadians' (even purportedly left-leaning people who would still wear a flag cape on Canada Day) on their opinion of the flag since the convoy, you'd find a similar sentiment - just about everyone I've talked to sees it differently now. The first time since Ottawa that I saw one out in the wild hanging from a hockey stick on the back of a truck, I let out an audible visceral shudder.

Actually, having said all that I think the mass graves probably had a huge impact first, on the type of 'average Canadians' I'm thinking about and hanging around with. Least I would hope so. My friends and I certainly felt dirty shooting off a couple of Roman Candles at the cottage that summer.

They don't want safer drugs, they want all drug users to be dead. It's what their late grandfather of right-wing big heads and known Oxy abuser Rush wanted.

I went on a date last night and the girl had a tattoo of a Canadian flag on her wrist.

I will never forget when that little dipshit once said that the USA never should have let Canada separate. I think that one actually hurt my brain.

And yes, he has on multiple occasions now vocally supported overthrowing the Canadian government by force and either having the US take control or install a Conservative puppet government. He is a dangerous little gremlin.

Good move. I wonder what made her get it in the first place though. Tattooing the flag on yourself has always been "extreme nationalism" as far as a lot of Canadians are concerned. Even before the convoy I would've thought someone displaying the flag on their home is a bit of a nut.

Maybe I'm just a weirdo though.

Strangely I'd say maple leaf tattoos seem way more frequent in RoC than fleur-de-lys ones are here. Maybe because I've always lived in Mtl where true nationalists are few and far between.

Both make you seem a little nuts and at the very least colonialism-naive, but they're not exactly swastikas or Confederate flags either. In practice I think I basically view it on the same level as an AC/DC tattoo.

I worked with a guy once that had a confederate flag tattoo.

He was born and raised in Halifax.

Growing up there were at least a dozen houses in my city that had that flag somewhere showing. A lot of union jack flags too. And come election time they always had conservative party signs out front.

Yeah, I knew some skins in the '80s that had confederate tattoos. One was from CB. Most of them reformed, or died. Oh well.
