i think it depends how you read flapyojack's post. i believe what he is trying to say (but perhaps not articulating very well) is that is that your default position reading any news outlet or police statement should be to assume the police are lying. the post as written seems to be saying that that is the general public's default position on those sources is that the police are lying, which would be hopelessly naive, but i don't think it's what he meant
