I would pay $50 for proper battletech dice that shows to hit for movement like proper battletech dice should but that’s a bridge too far it seems. They cost over $100 last time I checked after shipping from Etsy

Sidesaddle Cavalry posted:Where are the similarities here? The Hellbringer seems like it should probably be the Warhammer, I know. But it isn't. The Warhammer's a line unit, designed to take as good as it gets. The Hellbringer is a Star League-style command 'Mech, it isn't supposed to see direct combat which is why it's so heavily armed and skimps on armor coverage. The Hellbringer's armament is pure deterrance, it's designed to make headhunters poo poo proverbial bricks--just like the Cyclops's AC/20--but the Clans don't have to compromise range to get headcappers. There's a reason that Wolf's Dragoons stick their regimental comm. officer in a Hellbringer, because it's just as good at managing signal traffic as their OG comm. officer's Cyclops. The Clans use it wrong, but the Clans not understanding the tools they have access to is par for the course.

Gladiator's a Banshee IIc, got the same legs, big toothy skull head and a giant engine. It's just allowed to have actual guns because Clantech means not making design compromises.

The Summoner is a flexible but under-armed (for Clantech) skirmisher which is why I draw closer parallels to the Shadow Hawk. The Thunderbolt's got a great and pretty flexible secondary armament. The Summoner typically doesn't. Really it's probably fair to call it a mashup between the Shadow Hawk, Griffin, and Thunderbolt and admit that it's doing all three jobs pretty badly.

I could be convinced to up my pledge a bit in the last 24 hours. Does anyone know what option I have to go for to get the aerospace fighters?

IIRC the salvage boxes you get through the pledge are only mercs salvage, while the add-ons can be chosen from any of the salvage lines.

Oh, weird, thanks. That's kind of counter-intuitive, but I guess I understand the logic of a single-item box.

I can see how keeping the pledges locked to merc stuff (both salvage boxes and lance packs) probably streamlines the logistics a bit. A lot of backers will not do add-ons, so then you can prepare those pledges more easily if they are from the kickstarter stuff, not the entire range. But double check, I’m not sure that I am correct on this.

Lotta Summoner slander itt I kid, I basically only know it from Mech2. I think it was my favorite since it was the heaviest mech with Jump Jets in the game. Also it looks rad.

What exactly is the BATTLETECH: Encounters game? It says its a dice game, but its a card game? Is it a collectable card game like MtG? Can you play it solo? What are the cards- are the individual mechs or what?

I think it's just a stand-alone card game. There's an Encounters: Shadowrun game on BGG.

I always think of the classic Clan heavies as mashups, more from their aesthetics than their performance. The Vulture is a skinny Archer with Rifleman arms. The Loki is a Warhammer built on a Rifleman chassis. The Thor is a Thunderbolt built on a Warhammer chassis. The Madcat is, well, you know what the Madcat is. As for the assaults, I think of the Man o' War as sort of a culmination of what engineers were trying with the Charger and Banshee, the Gargoyle is similarly a culmination of the Victor and Highlander's design ethos, and the Warhawk and Daishi as what happens when you decide to put arms on a Stalker.

I've probably said this before but I think the 3050 Clan omni designs are really good. A ton of classics in there. Just looks-wise, can't speak to the game performance (I know there are ups and downs). The need to make them workable for early VR technology made the silhouettes read well, imo. And they're a nice mix of 'guy in suit' and 'alien machine'.
