The public service getting a raise helps the military and just people in general. When the PS gets a raise, people take notice - because the collective agreements being publicly available is the measuring stick people use. Edit: Heard at least one person with a great argument I support, which is that pay raises should be weighted based on how much you already make. As much as the "fairness" of everyone getting an increase of XX%, I think every fucker already making 100k+ can shut the gently caress up.

Vancouver's so hosed that doctors and nurses around VGH have to find roommates to afford to live there. The need is more acute at the lower end of the income spectrum, absolutely, but 100k does not go very far when your monthly rent is $2500.

I'm losing a few weeks of per diem that would have been spent doing some cool as gently caress military stuff internationally. It's been in the works for a couple years and would have been valuable to overall warfighting capability but that's the cost of solidarity so smokkem if u gottem

We did something like this on thursday and was told by the RCMP to stop or they'll issue fines for impeding traffic. Weather was nice today, at least. The previous 3 days, I stood out in wind and rain that were bad enough to knock out the power during a couple shifts. I think I'll bring the lawn chair tomorrow.

Maybe I've been around some curiously high performing privates but in aggregate I'd sooner trust them to do a reasonable job than the flics. The E-1s and 2s with a chip on their shoulder that get out because the world owes them someone to look down on though? Hoooo boy...

I've got a ton of respect for jr NCMs (being a former one myself) but they're the way they are because they're disciplined to hell and actually face consequences for poo poo. Remove both of those factors and you don't have a great demographic for prospective cops

Ontario police seemed pretty unprofessional and undisciplined in my professional interactions with them, even at the division command level. Some decent rank and file folks like anywhere else but overall it already attracted the wrong crowd and this isn’t going to help. Not like I care, never living in Ontario again.

I'd be happy with stripping them of their right to unionize. The CF isn't allowed to and given that so many cops want to cosplay as the CF why not let them live the dream and abolish all police unions.
