the first half was almost unbearable. demon slayer's silly faces and humor is terrible, in particular when Tanjiro is the center of it. The worst manzai act ever. But holy poo poo, the ramp up in the 2nd half. Hopefully it stays this crazy the rest of the arc. So Mist Hashira just saw Tanjiro using Sun Breathing right in front of him but didn't react. I was thinking he was asleep all the time, but remembered that's Zenitsu's sthick.

We will actually never see the vase demon again this arc. After this is all over, it will cut back to him turning to dust and the swordsmith is just standing rolling his arms with no injuries going “that was the strangest vase I ever seen.”

I gotta add, I'm into number 4's gimmick. From how he looked in the op and his general attitude I was expecting a whole bunch of lame cringing and hiding and sending rock monsters out, him splitting into ever increasing numbers of actually badass demons is way more compelling.

I guess that explains why I didn't remember number 4 at all. But drat 3 episodes in and we're already at the fighting, is this season still 12 episodes? Also Tanjiro is such a good brother learning how braid Nezuko's hair.

I guess its the aspect where there's just too few hashiras and they need to keep sending them across japan to deal with demons. but looking at the upper moon demons. its just yea maybe the hashiras should team up more often. Its all been fights so far where a hashira would 100% lose if they were by themselves. all of them so far weres ones where they split up other than the martial arts one. and the jar one just seems to overwealm the fighter with a jar army

The demons keep killing young talent before it can blossom into someone on the hashiras' level. There's less than 10 of them, and they have teamed up before. Shinobu and Tomioka both went to the spider mountain. Iguro was on his way to assist Usui, he just arrived after the fight because Ume was provoked and attacked early. And Rengoku did extremely well for fighting alone against Amaza, the third strongest non-Muzan demon, forcing him to sever his own arms and flee the light of the sun.

I'm always struck by how the breathing techniques seem more like visual flourishes (like hit VFX in a fighting game) than conjuring actual fire and water, but oni magic literally lets them shoot wind and lightning, do sonic screeches, summon a gigantic kooky castle, etc. Helps underline how badly outmatched the good guys are, I reckon.
