The dog one reminds me of when I went to pick up flooring off some guy in the hinterlands and the whole way up a long gravel drive two gently caress-off enormous dogs were pack-hustling my car along, like pressing up against it with either side of their bodies and practically rocking me like a cop car at a riot. I didn't know whether they were incredibly excited for a visitor, or if they were going to maul me to death, or if those were even distinct possibilities from one another

So I'm very certain that I've set up my browser to not auto-play gif, videos and whatever else you kids are calling things in motion these days. Yet somehow these two versions of the mirrored hovering dog head are auto-playing. While these two examples are only mildly disorientating for me (my epilepsy has in general gotten pretty bad at this point), I'm getting a bit worried that something else might slip through that would be much more harmful to me. Could someone help me figure out what settings I need to fiddle with to ensure these won't auto-play either?

Those images just appeared in my photos and I had an ominous impulse rumbling in my head as though they were saying “POST ME” and when I ignored it I started having tinnitus and my nose started bleeding. The gifs don't autoplay on the android app. Maybe from a default setting to save network data somewhere? If there is a setting in a PC browser to do the same, the wizard who put it inside the devil box possibly filed it under a data saver name. Because that was the only use their life experience would have them imagine ThisIsJohnWayne has a new favorite as of 14:40 on Apr 23, 2023 |

Also for performance reasons as well because having a wall of gifs, webms, videos, and whatnot going on and playing on a continuous loop can easily bring even the most powerful phones to its knees, chew up the battery, and cook the phone.

The ones autoplaying are all actual factual gifs instead of .gifv or .mp4. A cursory search says there's no way to disable gif autoplaying but there are extensions that will do it.
