My being misinformed about said white people's opinion on their own blackface episode doesn't change anything because the issue is not "do the creators think their use of blackface was okay." It's "is blackface okay."

And the answer is still no.

Are the misogynistic jokes still ok?

Depends on the joke, who made it, why, how, how it's received, the cultural miasma in which it's told, and whether or not the intention lands with more people than it doesn't.

Always Sunny is quite literally my go-to show when I explain to people that you can, in fact, make a joke out of people being horrible without drawing a whole-rear end audience of people not understanding the joke that's actually being made, as happens so often, but they're not infallible and I don't think there's anything wrong with drawing the line at literal loving blackface.

But judging by how upset people are about not being about to see the aforementioned blackface on TV anymore in the wake of open-mouthed, full-throated racism going mainstream again, I have a much easier time drawing a line there, because holy poo poo I can't believe how many people are treating something like that like it's cool death metal or porn and you're the child of conservative Christians CHUDs.

The loss of the first Community D&D episode was worst. Fair enough if they want to set the standard of zero tolerance because otherwise shitheads will exploit it, but that was another episode where the character doing it was called out explicitly in the episode, and then straight away left the episode.

I agree with this. I remember that being one of the show's best episodes too.

My general stance is that while I don't necessarily agree with the bans - as I think they're really just a corporate PR thing when the real issue was taking steps to ensure more black people aren't killed by police officers - at the same time I'm also a very white man, so I can't really comment in full on whether it's offensive or not, even though I'm aware of the context of the jokes and how it's separate from the very racist history of blackface in popular western entertainment. All in all, a little disappointed, but not really all that bothered.

Rob said that much like with old movies they should throw in a 'sensitivity warning' title card or some poo poo, pulling the episodes off all services like they were the hentai version of mein kampf or some poo poo is pretty extreme, and yet 'Tropic Thunder' still remains out of everyone's radar for some reason, is it because it has 2 layers of meta to protect the blackface?

The most merciful thing in the world, I think, is the inability of the human mind to correlate all its contents. We live on a placid island of ignorance in the midst of black seas of infinity, and it was not meant that we should voyage far.

That wasn't blackface it was plastic surgery. If you cross over a certain commitment threshold it becomes OK :eng101:

As far as I know Tropic Thunder isn't actually streaming for free anywhere. And even the episodes of Sunny that are pulled off Hulu, you can still buy and stream through Amazon (as well as Tropic Thunder).

Also nobody dares to cancel RDJ.

Charlie's the only member of the Gang who's actually said a racial slur, isn't he? He says the N-word at least twice (once in season 1, once again in Hero Or Hate Crime?).

Unless I'm forgetting something, he's also the only member of the Gang who gets shot. Also on two separate occasions.

At the end of the last podcast they mention bringing together an episode at the last minute because of an incoming text from Aaron and Bryan. At the time I didn't pay attention to it and even thought he initially said Sara and Ryan, but on a relisten Rob does say Aaron and Bryan. I even went and watched the video to make sure. The date of the photo adds up too.

So yea, that's as much confirmation as I need.

I bet they are doing something like Frank's Pretty Woman again. Except this time Charlie is gonna drive the limo, not Frank, and Rob and Dennis are gonna try and score meth from Aaron and Bryan, instead of crack from Roxy.

And I forgot about the tease of bringing back a character introduced in season 1, but while I was relistening I caught it again. I bet it's pop-pop. He was in season 1 and if you remember, he didn't die. They took him off the ventilator and he started breathing on his own. The actor (Tom Bower) is still alive and active too.

I had that similar thought late last night. Maybe the gang is trying to make their own alcohol, which is pretty drat topical. Seems like every celebrity these days comes out with their own line of alcohol, and IASIP loves to address topics like that. So I think it's just something along those lines. "The Gang Sells Out Again". They've repeated some episodes before.

Returns to theme are some of the best episodes, though. Gun Fever 2? Gang Recycles Their Trash? (Conceptually, Being Frank and Charlie Work are both echoes of Mac Day but if you didn't want to consider that a return on theme, I'd accept that.)

Rob/Macs outfit looks exactly how I'd imagine the character picturing that a Hollywood producer should look, so with Charlie in limo chauffeur outfit guess they trick the actors into getting involved with some scheme.
