looking through his channel and honestly besides the history channel videos a lot of his older stuff doesn't interest me either, but holy poo poo he's been on this nickelodeon recap bit for two years. It gets views but, I think he could've accomplished that in less than dozens of hours of what's apparently just droning summaries e: bernievidz did a decent video on the entirety of beavis & butthead and it's "only" 48 minutes

By Victorious he's basically watching them, writing up his notes, and then doing a chunk of analysis at the end of each block so you get large slabs of mostly summary. There is genuinely creative stuff in there though; he recreates an unaired pilot using the script and production photos and some basic animation and VA work which is pretty impressive.

I brought up the Jon Bois analysis of 24 in TVIV the other day and it seems like the better way to handle it. Clean it up, make your point and move on to another topic. If you just want to make hours of content then streaming or blind let's plays are right there.

Quinton is one of the few long-winded Youtube people who I completely bounced off of even just as mindless background noise. Not only does he have nothing interesting to say, he can't even manage to be interesting in the way he says the things he does. It's just dull, dry white guy voice reading off a script, like I'm back listening to the early episodes of History of Rome except it's an episode-by-episode plot synopsis of iCarly and it never gets better. He appears to have a successful patreon though so I guess he's doing something right.

the quinton sr video is intended to be a troll/joke video, it's just that it missed its target of april fools day by a wide berth. so there's just gonna be a 38 hour video posted on his youtube channel at some point this summer without any context lol e: I guess he could always hold on to it until next April

on long videos, i watched hbomberguy's myst video and it was good. he also suggested maybe doing a video on myst clones and I think that'd be fun. he should try Amerzone, the Myst-like game Beniot Sokal designed before the Syberia series. also, all the Dark Fall games, which are about as spooky as an episode of Goosebumps but still trashy fun

By refusing to "harsh the vibes" by seriously discussing and addressing the abusive and predatory conditions under which the Schneider sitcoms were produced, Quinton's Reviews amount to nothing more than an additional round of child exploitation. The videos mine the source sitcoms - sitcoms that are byproducts of child exploitation before they are anything else - for content in a parasitic way. It's below bottom-feeding.

Jenny Nicholson's Vampire Diaries video is probably the most masterful Long rear end Youtube Recap video, it helps that the franchise is significantly more insane than the Lestat/Twilight ripoff that you would assume it is and that Jenny goes into all the behind the scenes drama. I wouldn't go as far as to call it child exploitation but the Schneiderverse videos not going into that at all does bring up the question on what they have over an insomniac binging of the iCarly wiki.

e. ^ Yeah that's gonna be a yikes from me.  My favorite response to Mauler's nonsense was when somebody on twitter pointed out the 11 part video series responding to the DS2 video to hbomb, his response was "I'm not watching all that but I'm sorry it happened" and Mauler immediately showed up in the mentions calling hbomb unprofessional for not wanting to engage with good faith criticism.

To hand it to Mauler, at least his angry 9 hour series on why FromSoft game Dark Souls 2 is actually bad (nearly 5 times longer than the video its responding to, saying FromSoft game Dark Souls 2 is good) is at least broken up into hour long chunk videos instead of one insanely long one. Quinton can learn from the 25 hour podcast objectivist guy here.

Anyone know any cool music documentary YouTubers I’ve maybe missed? I really like the KJ Oasis documentary; I wish there were more videos that go that into depth for other Creation records bands. I’ve like a lot of the Trash Theory docs, specially the one the on The KLF they did recently was fascinating.
