Yellen said we could default as early as June but before then the fed might start making moves to try to shift things around to prolong the default as long as possible. When that happens I'm sure the markets will dive. Which means possible layoffs for workers. And then that could also mean a hit to the US credit rating again. So yeah the default could happen in June but the damage could start before then. I hope that Dem secret discharge petition works out. And if not, then I hope Biden mints the drat coin and doesn't wait until the last minute.

The market isn't a rational actor and if the fed has to start getting creative to keep the gears turning then yes hell will start to break loose in a pretty rapid manner.

US debt underpins the entire global economy and once people start getting sketched out about how stable it is things stop being predictable and no one can truthfully say they know how it will shake out, especially if collapsing everything totally owns the libs.

Someone leaked one page of the emails and text messages that Tucker Carlson sent that caused Fox to panic, settle the lawsuit, and fire him. There's still another few dozen pages that are sealed under court order and have not been leaked.

In the leaked messages, he says that white people fight honorably and he was disappointed in a video he saw where 3 white Trump supporters jumped and beat a black "antifa guy" on January 6th. He said that "is not how white men fight."

He also expressed that he wanted to see the black guy beaten and killed by the Trump supporters, but realized afterwards that was wrong because it would make him just like the "antifa guy."

He also texted people about how disappointed he was that Mike Pence didn't "save the day" on January 6th and how important it will be to protect the first and second amendments going forward because they will need them to save America and they make America worth living in.

https://twitter.com/nytimes/status/1653576820736815105

quote:

A couple of weeks ago, I was watching video of people fighting on the street in Washington. A group of Trump guys surrounded an Antifa kid and started pounding the living poo poo out of him. It was three against one, at least. Jumping a guy like that is dishonorable obviously. It’s not how white men fight.

quote:

Yet suddenly I found myself rooting for the mob against the man, hoping they’d hit him harder, kill him. I really wanted them to hurt the kid. I could taste it.

quote:

Then somewhere deep in my brain, an alarm went off: this isn’t good for me. I’m becoming something I don’t want to be. The Antifa creep is a human being. Much as I despise what he says and does, much as I’m sure I’d hate him personally if I knew him, I shouldn’t gloat over his suffering. I should be bothered by it. I should remember that somewhere somebody probably loves this kid, and would be crushed if he was killed. If I don’t care about those things, if I reduce people to their politics, how am I better than he is?

quote:

People were enraged today because they thought Mike Pence would save the day.

quote:

My view is that the most important thing we can do - maybe the only thing we can do going forward is try to save the things that make America worth living in. For me, that begins with the first and second amendments.

quote:

We'll need the first and second going forward.

In response to another person he was texting saying that he worried that Trump might do something crazy that could prompt a backlash against the second amendment:

quote:

There is no question he will. He's a demonic force, a destroyer. But, he's not going to destroy us. I've been thinking about this every day for four years.

The explicit stuff about how white men fight honorably and wanting to see the black guy get murdered are definitely several levels above his emails and stuff he said on his show. But, it was basically a matter of degree and explicitness and not content. Fox was fine with what he was saying on his show as long as he framed it as "some people think" or "I'm just asking questions." Once you say, "I wanted this man to be beaten to death and white people are more honorable than black people" you have stepped too far for Fox.

Counterpoint: I think this is probably what they were concerned about, because they are more concerned about a relatively mild thing that is unquestionably racist, rather than the seventeen thousand awful dogwhistles that maintain a tiny fig leaf of respectability.

The rules are: you can imply the worst possible things imaginable, the most dreadfully racist poo poo. But if you come out and say something that can't be maneuvered around, your number is up. Tucker and Don Cherry can go have a circle-jerk about overthrowing the Canadian government, owing to their ample free time resulting from violating that one simple rule.

It came to the Fox board because they had to review all of the electronic communications they had to turn over as part of discovery in the Dominion lawsuit. Fox were the first ones to learn about it.

It's not clear who leaked it to the NYT, but it is the unredacted version of the redacted documents that are available on the court website. The unredacted version is sealed under court order, so it could only be:

- Someone from Dominion
- Someone from Fox
- Someone from the outside legal team Fox hired
- Someone from the prothonotary's office at the Delaware Superior Court

The Washington Post reports that the next step in the culture war is shutting down high school theater for being too gay.

Even as Republicans underperformed in 2022 nationally, conservative activists were incredibly successful at electing entirely new school boards all across the country. These new boards have taken up various "anti-woke" and anti-LGBT policies during their tenure. Now, a national group that helped elect many of them is organizing a program to shut down high school theater for encouraging homosexuality and transgenderism.

They have also set out to find "pro-CRT" school plays and shut them down as well. They argue that these plays cause divisions among the students and may offend local parents.

15 states have implemented policies to prevent high school theater from putting on performances where characters crossdress.

It’s awesome how these freaks are going all-in on antagonizing their own children. There’s no way that having formative memories of being forced to give up a beloved activity or having a trans friend commit suicide could possibly lead a person to lifelong hatred of conservatives. I have no idea what the end of all this will be other than people dying in the short term, but I don’t see how these tendencies can last given how they’re bullying all children in the US for no reason.

A 24 yr old killing a 30 yr old.

My guess is the kid is a tourist, and his victim, Jordan Neely, is known on the train, in community, and otherwise around the city.

A man, still cognitively developing at 24, traveli g in unfamiliar environments, with a mind and body trained by the US Marines to kill.

A tourist who either doesn't understand the concept of "hostile enemy territory" or understands it all too well.

I ride the train every day for work, or at least I used to before COVID. Now I bike when I can and ride the train otherwise. I'll be honest: it can be uncomfortable to witness how our system breaks people down up close, to see the victims of the stock market just a few miles away.
