Is the US a completely faultless angel? Of course not, they got skeletons in their closet but every nation, regardless of alignment, has skeletons and boogeymen in their closet.

As it stands, our interests and values align closely with the West. We both see China as a threat, on the domestic front, western ideals such as LGBTQ+ rights, freedom of speech, democracy are a net positive for our society and none of the great powers (China, Russia) have a positive view of those ideals.

Our chief relationship with the US though is military, we primarily use western arms and doctrine as well as the US being our only true ally in the legal sense. We live in a time of constant great power competition and as such we cannot truly stay neutral, we havent invested at all jn self sufficiency of our military which is why we have the pragmatic need to stay aligned with the US, at least in some regards. Protests and diplomatic decrees against china are good and all, but we need military muscle to be able to enforce it.

Based on recent history, if the PRC decides to take over something, they do it brutally with little to no consideration for the native population (see: Tibet and the Uyghurs). It�s true that the US tends to do the same, but they�re not going to do that here.

China, on the other hand, looks like they�re gearing up to take over Southeast Asia starting with Taiwan.
