That thread was so weird because it very much seemed like the kind of thing middle school kids would do (wacky crude humor is king at that age), but it's all a bunch of middle-aged people posting. ...well ok, it was weird for a lot of reasons, but that's definitely one of them.

to me the whole situation reads like it's straight out of the geek social fallacies. like, the thought process for some applewhite enjoyers seems to be "i am weird -> i have fun posting on the forums -> the forums accept me for being weird, i have my posting pals -> all sorts of vile poo poo can be tolerated from posters here" and the corollary posts that were like "don't act like you aren't weird too" which i found strange. like yes i am probably not the most normal person in the world, i moderate a politics subforum ffs, but i am not weird in a way that makes me feel compelled to post about sex, horniness, jacking off, porn etc. that poo poo shouldn't fly! don't want or need that stuff on SA.

just forbid hornyposting, it really helped the GDQ threads after the SGDQ 2019 chat thread became a superfund site. Ever since then anything horny in the SGDQ/AGDQ threads get slapped quick, and it's not allowed in the speedpals discord at all either, and it's made the subsequent four years of threads immeasurably more readable and better as a result. theres still tons of bad fan art posted but none of it, at least, will be kazooie rear end

i think it can be healthy for people and in some ways queer positive to have a space where they can talk about their weird sex poo poo, because a lot of what society finds 'weird' aligns with things that are at least somewhat gay in nature (see: the era of the internet where just the concept of gay porn, or sexualized male bodies, was seen as a punchline) however the disconnect people have is that this does not mean that turning any unrelated space into a place to unload what gives you a boner is queer positive. a rl bdsm club can be a queer positive space. this does not mean tying your sub up in the walmart clothing aisle is queer positive.

But also I feel like maybe there shouldn't be gray forum threads with "NSFW" in the title and then anything goes within. Because in practice that can only really mean one thing. I'm not just talking about the dragon thread, either. There are people in the waffle images thread that are extremely obviously hitting "next image" dozens of times until it gives them porn, and posting it inline. It's not even interesting or unusual, just generic wank material presented without comment. If you try it for yourself, you might seriously take like five minutes solid of clicking a button to get tits.
