Skios posted:Steve Kelley So here's what gets me about this cartoon. The thing Harris is saying is kind of similar to things she has actually said. It isn't a direct quote, but it's like things she has said before. Meanwhile, the thing Biden is saying is just completely made up, he has said nothing even remotely similar to this. And it's not even like it's difficult to find mistakes Biden has made in his speech! It would be easy to make a quote similar to things he has said before, like Skelley did with Harris. But nope, just monkeycheese bullshit to make him look even more deranged.

SneezeOfTheDecade posted:Beyond this, their thinking is inspired by Ray Blanchard, whose bizarre theories about trans women were really influential for a while and are still parroted by transphobes, even if they don't know where they got the ideas. Blanchard classified trans women into two types: "autogynephilic", or fetishists, who were sexually turned on by the idea of being women to such a degree that they felt compelled to change genders; and "homosexual", who were gay men who were so gay that they decided to change genders in order to attract straight men. He entirely rejected the idea that there might be any trans women who didn't fit his typology, and (at least when his theories were published) doesn't seem to have figured out that trans men and non-binary people exist. Extra fun part: Blanchard neglected to use any sort of control group when creating this typology. A while later, a separate research team did, and found the great majority of cis women would also be classified as "autogynephilic" when evaluated with the same survey that Blanchard used on trans women. So he was out there claiming he had discovered a unique reason for people being trans, when in fact he had just stumbled upon a perfectly regular aspect of female sexuality that trans and cis women happen to share.

I think this might be the most disingenuous Sinfest ever made, and that's saying something. It has weirdly racist portrayals of politicians that only vaguely resemble the people they're supposed to be (even the white lady looks off), completely ignores the issue those politicians were protesting against (Gun control), and just randomly throws in some transphobia even though trans people had nothing to do with the situation. It's peak "making up poo poo to be mad about to prove the other side is bad and wrong".

I'm not even American and I could have drawn a more accurate haircut from memory.
