Isn't it kind of the developer's fault for putting up a nonfunctioning game in the first place? Like steam/valve should probably not sell them but still.

I thought this was going to be some strange tiktok sludge content thing, but it turns out it's just a Physicist PhD ranting about how String Theory took over pop physics for too long and ruined public trust in all physics. She's no northernlion at Isaac, but she's still better at me and she's got her doctorate so I feel better trusting that her frustrations are sincere. It's not her normal content. She normally does a bunch more editing/takes, which are good, but this one captured my attention when it popped up on my dash. Her other content complaining about physics cranks feels like a step above (knowledge/argument sophistication) other science debunking content I enjoy (ProfDave, SciManDan, Planarwalk). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kya_LXa_y1E

I glanced in on my housemates when they binge watched Seven Deadly Sins and turned around and left the room because it looked dumb. I have low tolerance for most fanservice and when your primary delivery system is groping and jamming your head under a skirt I'm gonna nope out of there.

It's valve's fault for selling a broken game just as much as it is the developers fault, if valve gets enough reports that a game is broken you'd think they'd look into the issue but they don't care, they make enormous amounts of money and can't hire a team that looks into issues like this. If they where a small indie company that can't afford new hires I could forgive them for this but they're not, they're a huge company when it comes to money, valve has shown time and time again that they're pretty anti-consumer, they had to be forced to even offer refunds, before they offered refunds and you bought a broken game you where poo poo out of luck.

There's a reoccurring problem in shonen anime where I'm here to see teenagers get maimed and break their bones and then for some reason there's boobs in the show for no reason.

Oh please they're there for the same reason that the teens are watching for the blood and violence. But there is a difference between a dumb beach bikini episode and a "haha molestation is so loving funny" type of fanservice.

I could feel Defunctland Kevin's lower eyelid twitching every time he decided to add a few extra seconds of "Big Red Car" to every snippet of footage of the ride, just to accurately convey the experience. The creative process can take people to some pretty dark places.

I'm in Europe, so the situation here is a bit different on the sense that people are somewhat kinder to String Theorists on my side of the ocean, but part of that was because there wasn't as big of a push to bazinga-fy it. I'd figure it happens a lot with videos that risk copyright claims or demonetization strikes. There's obvious stuff like including songs and video footage, but also things like cited sources can turn out to be an issue. The children's band hellride video made me rewatch some of Defunctland's older content, and a couple of videos about children's shows now had blurred out sections that I could swear weren't there before. It wasn't what you'd expect, though - it was mostly the captions of magazine articles used as reference for general stuff like the dates of auditions and production details. And the content of the article was still being voiced out word by word, it was just the text of the article on the screen that had been blurred. Doesn't seem to make much sense, but YT's rules seldom do. In addition to that, there's just good old "oh for gently caress's sake, I was sure I'd fixed that poo poo before i clicked upload"

Defunctland is always fascinating, but I think what I was most surprised to learn wasn't even something specific to this episode. I had no idea that The Wiggles essentially started as a passion project by a bunch of guys who just wanted to entertain and educate kids, that's genuinely pretty cool.
