I very much enjoyed watching TENET several times from a filmmaking & narrative perspective. It doesn't make a lot of sense, it's kinda soulless, and John David Washington is a barely adequate leading man, but goddamn if my rear end isn't clenched tight enough to suck up a couch cushion through most of the film.

The Prestige is still his best film, tho.

I suppose keep in mind that I'm no fan of Nolan, but Tenet was a great time, it's a 200 million dollar b-movie about cia counterintelligence dipshits cursing the world, and the soundtrack is simply killer. If you let the dialogue roll off you and just appreciate the unlikable sleazebag characters and plot mcguffins on a film noir vibe you'll prolly have a good time. I don't mind Nolan when he plays it big and dumb, because he is a very confused person.

I had assumed he'd bailed on that as he did with Tomb Raider. But, uh, yeah. He was the director of this film. Huh.

If I ever get a time machine, I'm gonna troll my past self by just telling him absurd but real stuff about artists he's a fan of. I'll start by telling my high-school self that the NIN guy is gonna win an original score Oscar for one of the Toy Story studio's movies. But telling my 2013 self that the A Field In England director is gonna helm a Jason Statham movie about fighting giant sharks will be my second stop.

I vaguely remember that. In high school it was the somewhat less gross alternative to Ain’t It Cool News for movie leaks. The constant Meg posting was annoying though.

A quick google shows that guy produced a few horror series, including the 2010 Are You Afraid of the Dark, then became a regional manager for a cigar brand.

I still remember the day I read the AICN update that *hush falls over the crowd* what if Phantom Menace is going to be...bad?

Some screening happened and someone saw it and said something to the tune of it's not good news, folks.

He was ROASTED. But the seed was first planted to prepare myself that we may have a bad movie on our hands.

The only real clear memories I have of AICN articles are the creepy poo poo. Like reviews of Shrek that described, in detail, the sexual things the reviewer wanted to do to the cartoon female lead. Or Final Fantasy reviews that speculated on the possibility of using CG for photoreal rape porn...

By and large most of the content was just overly nerdy excitement for interesting leaks and I discovered cool stuff like Pi and Requiem for a Dream due to that site... but man I'm still glad it's dead.

The fix was in with that first poster. A big part of me was excited for new Star Wars movies but man, I had never wished or dreamed or asked for Li'l Vader. But, apropos of the thread, the trailer was dope.

Of course the kid Vader movie is now considered the cornerstone event of a generation that made Star Wars even bigger than it was before.

Harry's reviews were the worst. They'd be a few thousand words about his ride to the theater, who he ran into outside the theater, what kind of popcorn he got, how horned up he was about the actress who was going to be in the movie, just a bunch of poo poo that had nothing to do with if the movie was good or not. And then there'd be a couple paragraphs that said something like, "And the movie was alright." It was so loving annoying, because often he'd be one of the first people in the world to see a movie, and usually the first to talk about it, so you actually wanted to know if it was any good, and it was just a bunch of nonsense.

Why didn't Josh Lucas ever really...happen? He was good looking (still is, really), he's charismatic, pretty good actor, but he never really got bigger than Sweet Home Alabama. Is it the southern accent? Was it making Hulk and Stealth in 2 years?

I mean, he's done pretty well compared to a lot of actors who just disappeared, but I always expected him to explode after Sweet Home Alabama, and he just didn't. His number one movie on IMDb is Ford vs. Ferrari, and he's 5th billed in that movie. And now this? Yikes.

I'll always remember him as "Flash" Dillon in Wing Commander III.

She's been doing a fair bit of TV directing for a while now, helming episodes of shows like Black-ish and Grand Hotel.

I mean, Elizabeth Banks has made a pretty successful transition to directing as well, so I'm willing to keep an open mind.
