HM: KUSHIDA vs. DOUKI - NJPW Best of Super Junior - 5/12 A packed Korakuen, the crowd white-hot, and KUSHIDA comes out deciding to play the absolute heel and victimize poor little trash-gobin DOUKI, and the crowd ate it up and it absolutely loving ruled. Right on the edge of a MOTYC.

He definitely has the raw ability to do incredible stuff and sometimes does, but I'll watch a match on a random indie and he has some tendencies that get out of hand. He's still good, but I'm interested in seeing his BOSJ matches because he can obviously be great.

I still think fondly about his match with Bandido at last year's Wrestlecon Supershow, & there were matches with ACH, Takeshita & Ospreay too last year that are all well worth watching. But you do start to see a theme: Mike Bailey with a great opponent is great, but he's not going to be a guy who "can get a *** out of a broom". And obviously Hiromu is in that tier of guys.

Just seeing them I went "Oh that looked kind of bad" and then the other one countered through it, and hey, that worked, intentional or not.

MOTYC 4th May Big Japan Endless Survivor ~ Infinity Independent BJW Tag Team Titles Astronauts (Fuminori Abe & Takuya Nomura)(c) vs Hiroyuki Suzuki & Takuho Kato Watch this here I don't want to say this was a coming out party for Suzuki & Kato because they were already good, especially Kato who has rapidly become one of my favourite BJW undercard guys, but this was on the big stage & against the best tag team in the world. They stepped up. MOTYC 4th May Big Japan Endless Survivor ~ Infinity Independent Big Japan World Strong Heavyweight Title Yuji Okabayashi(c) vs Yuya Aoki Watch this here Watch this match. Honestly, you really should watch this. Even Dave Meltzer watched it & the last time he gave Big Japan match a star rating was 2019! It's not a deathmatch, it's 2 lads bashing the poo poo out of each other. Aoki is only 26 & this was only his 2nd HW title challenge (he's a former Junior champ but has put on a fair bit of mass). Actually, he also won the Junior Title at the 2nd try. Okabayashi is one of half of Strong BJ, one of the best tag teams in Japan for the 2010s & he's a big ball of meat, heard-hitting, charismatic & about to suplex you on your head. Right now a top 5 match of the year for me.
