They are desperately trying to overwhelm Ukrainian air defenses because they saw the documents showing Ukraine only has enough missiles for a few more weeks of ful AA coverage of their power grid.

NATO has stepped up due to this leak.

In other news for whatever reason, it looks like Ukraine drafted a plans to open a second front in Syria and help the SDF fight against Russian forces. The plan was scrapped in december

Realtalk, Russians drink kefir as a health drink, which while yes it is very rich in probiotics, which is good for your gut health, it also looks like horse cum. The stuff you see poot poot slurping on is kefir. It's good for ensuring good digestion, but lactobacillus acidophilus will not cure rear end cancer.

Kefir spread outside of Russia in the late 20th and early 21st century among Russian speaking populations and can be found in Europe, Latin America, North America, and Asia.

From wikipedia article: """Kefir contains ethanol, which is detectable in the blood of human consumers. [...] The level of ethanol in kefir can vary by production method. Kefir produced by small-scale dairies in Russia early in the 20th century had 1-2% ethanol."""

Leave it to the "I don't have a drinking problem"-culture to invent an alcohol-based breakfast item, when everyone else is eating yogurt.

An interesting insight from a solid news channel. Storm Shadow has been hitting targets in Luhansk that are outside of HIMARS range, but at less than maximum Storm Shadow range. Apparently the idea is to hit targets in Luhansk first because they could pull HQs and depots back into Russia. Targets in Crimea can't pull back, because out of Storm Shadow range around Sevastopol are in the actual Black Sea. They'll still be there when Ukraine gets to them, targets in Luhansk have room to pull out of range. This also weakens defensive positions in Luhansk, thereby increasing the chances of a Kharkiv-like offensive happening.

I cannot believe that Syria plan was anything but deliberately planted disinformation to throw off the large amount of penetration Russia has into Ukraine's intelligence agencies even now. It's just

they, for all practical purposes, do not have a navy

how would this possibly have worked

Also, how is this man real hahaha. This is Yuri Chernetsky, he was sentenced to five years prison for being a cocaine dealer. He was married to a moderately famous singer Irina Voronova and she immediately divorced him. She got put on blast for recording the air defense operations and posting it to her instagram, which put the air defense batteries at risk of being geolocated from the footage. People aren't very happy with her atm

Edit: Here's the readout of the air forces Ukraine shot down over Kyiv. They really are trying to swarm the air defense batteries with this kind of attack

All 18 missiles were shot down by air defense, and the drones have never been an issue for SAM batteries: 6 Kinzhals, 9 Kalibrs, 3 S-400s, 6 Shaheds, and 3 SuperCums

Meh, send a few shady intelligence goons to kickstart another local uprising, easy peasy.
I don't think the people of Sirya need another war right now though. Assad should be loving hanged but the timetable should be one that suits the Siryans, not Ukraine.

Or, y'know, something strategically important like ammo storage, but lol at russia opting for the non-war-crimey possibility.

russia spent $150 million on missiles and all they blew up was a bus when flaming wreckage from the destroyed missiles fell on it (no one died).

Patriot is not previous generation. They've been upgraded within the last decade. Aegis plus Standards is better, but an upgraded Patriot is leagues ahead of anything anyone else is fielding for land-based air defense.

I have a suspicion that if the rubber meets the road, China's army will also be exposed as a fairly big joke. By all accounts their soldiers are extremely poorly trained, a lot of their equipment is of dubious quality and the grift is wide-spread and massively ambitious. Of course they could still be the second most powerful military in the world, because large parts of the world have scaled back their militaries massively these past decades.

The systems are generally deployed everywhere with a mix of PAC-2 and -3 missiles (3 is specifically supposed to be good for ballistic missiles). They’re going to be using ammo that p much everyone uses

There’s no “old” or un-upgraded patriot batteries, it’s kind of a prestige system and the cost of upgrades are baked in

It's supposed to be maneuvering as well as going very fast. Scud missiles (or V2's) were already going very fast 60 years ago but could be intercepted on their ballistic trajectories by tweaking the interception parameters. A missile designed to explode around the front of an aircraft where the pilot sits misses a ballistic missile by quite a lot without any adjustments. But with the right timing it can put a cloud of shrapnel perfectly well in front of a missile. The answer to this would be have the missile change course several times on approach so the intercepting SAM cannot get to that one place where, for a few milliseconds, it can successfully intercept.

Kinzhal was supposed to be that answer. But going extremely fast and also changing course is quite difficult to do and maybe it's just an Iskander ballistic missile that was modified to be launched from a plane at 10 times the cost after all. After getting a few seconds of radar data the computer can predict perfectly where a ballistic missile will go and calculate an interception. You still need a lot of very advanced tech to do the interception successfully where every microsecond counts but no humans are needed for this. No one could manually do this anyway.
