I will not be requesting a trade due to Takayasu's injury. I do not personally feel good about setting aside an injured rikishi for my own benefit but I also do not judge in any way those that wish to do so.

Excited to watch so sumo, also a bit relived that it's fantasy exhibition time as last week was a nightmare and completely missed the whole "get my draft together" in light of everything else going on.

This but unironically. A lot of athletes can't sleep or rest before competition. I'm not sure if it would be as big a problem in sumo where you have 15 fights in a row so the pressure isn't usually as extreme but in sports like boxing or MMA where you train for months and only get one shot, some people have a hard time sleeping as the big day comes.

Being able to sleep and come into the competition rested is extremely valuable.

It's very weird to watch sumo without running fantasy. It's the right call for me this basho, but as I'm watching the days bouts I keep feeling like I should be filling out a spreadsheet.

Day 3: drat, Hoshoryu and Kiribayama with avoidable defeats today. I was thinking "Tobizaru can't go for the Henka again" and the mad lad did it... successfully this time!

Asanoyama seemed to have a very favorable call there, I think they should have had a repeat of the match.

This is his absolute best chance ever for a yusho, with Wakatakakage out and Teru looking shaky, so he'd best wake up.

Our boy Tochi is having a real rough time, he's got seven wins in the last three basho combined. I'm expecting we're going to see him retire once he hits the bottom of Juryo, just no knee left and looking like he's lot a lot of muscle. His tachi-ai today was a shadow of its former self, he straight up bounced off of a lighter Hakuyozan and was driven out in a few seconds. :smith:

It seems that everyone in the upper ranks is out for blood this basho, Shodai is currently the only sanyaku or higher with less than 3 wins. Poor guy, Shodai.

M 1-5, on the other hand, is taking the brunt of the assault as all 9 active sumotori combined have 10 wins total. I'm not going to go out on a limb and say that this is a trend that will continue but this may end up being the cursed rank for the tournament.

ngl, the most heated I got today wasn't from WMH or Kiribayama pulling out their wins, or Teru putting the clamps on poor Tobizaru and walking him out, it was me screaming "BE BIG" at my screen while willing Hokuseiho to a win.

Yeah this was really confusing to me too, why not do something with the left hand, like...anything? Was he just proving a point? One handed Sumo is weird.

The sound of two foreheads smashing into each other during a tachi-ai is quite a way to get the blood flowing in the morning.

Also really glad to see Daiesho doing consistently well. The first basho I watched was Jan 22 and the first day had Daiesho put on a hell of a performance against Terunofuji during his massive win streak. He didn't win, but he looked great, and I've been a fan ever since.
