There's no need to speak. You must only concentrate and recall all your past life. When a man thinks of the past, he becomes kinder.

Story time!

This was fairly soon after we got Joris and Nelis. They weren't allowed on the balcony because we hadn't cat-proofed it yet. The cats would sometimes stare outside, but otherwise show not much interest in the outside. Until we had a visitor:

A pigeon! And not just a pigeon, a pigeon that would stay on the balcony for over half an hour! Naturally, this went not unnoticed:

Pigeon was not impressed:

Let me have it!

Since then it has been an ongoing war with birds, with lots of guardposting and chittering at birds. I'll try to get the chittering on camera, they can be quite loud.

Thank you for your service Joris and Nelis

When Misty was young we had to keep an eye on her outside in part because I swear every drat dove was trying to commit suicide by cat. How can they be so stupid.

Morris update - his two weeks with his leg splinted are nearly over. Vet appointment tomorrow afternoon to get it removed, and have one of the other vets at the practice take a look (he's an orthopedic specialist). He's moving around well with it splinted, so I'm crossing my fingers he's healing well.

Brain update - he's been awesomely flexible while we've had Morris crated in the living room while he heals up. Took him for a claw trim last weekend, and he managed to pull one of his front paws away as they were trimming the nail, so some of the quick got exposed, but no bleeding (they let me know, and if it did, I could use flour to help stop the bleeding if necessary). So far, no problems related to that, but I need to play with his paws more so he's more used to it.

I .. bought a pet stroller to help get Morris to/from the vet. Getting him into the front-entry crate was do-able, but I felt like there was a better way:

Here's Morris testing it out:

In the carrier, there are two clips for collars/harnesses. Is there a cat harness brand that anyone can recommend? I remember seeing something mentioned a long time ago, but I'm old and forgetful these days. I'd like to get Brain used to a harness so I can clip him into the carrier part of the stroller.

The theme is "Bliss" or "Happy Places". Scenes inspired by what each cat loves more than anything else. Important note is that cats often love being assholes.

it got mentioned on a discord that Winston's happy place would be him diving into a vault of pulled pork, Scrooge McDuck style.
