It's not the camera, its the scope, which you activate by clicking the right stick

game kicks rear end and is unimaginably impressive, but I kind of miss the simplicity and directness of BOTW. In BOTW, within an hour King Rhoam literally points his finger at hyrule castle and is like: "Zelda is here. But you should go to Karariko and talk to Impa first." And then after talking to Impa, your primary goal has been 100% solidified. Whereas in this game I've spent 10 hours doing stuff and have an unlimited number of places to explore, but have very little idea what concluding the story means. Maybe that means I should stop doing the billions of sidequests the game puts in your path and spend some time on the main questline...

I think there’s some metric to how much area is uncovered on lightroot to the point where I think you may end up with areas lit with roots still unlocked. they should match the shrines above in the overworld, right? compare both layers to see where you’re missing stuff

For button mapping, I would want jumping on A and sprinting on X. Then you could run and jump with a Mario layout. Also in every single Zelda game but these you press down and A to do a backflip or left and A for sidehop. I STILL try it every time and get smacked around. 2 games, 200 hours, I have not remapped my brain to use X or B to jump in combat. Can't do it

It does feel super bizarre that in combat Botw/Totk Link is like by far the least responsive and acrobatic we've had in the 3D games. All the others get to do big hops in pretty much any direction at will. Meanwhile this Link is doing pathetic 5 inch jumps in place until he busts out a full backwards flip... which still only takes him like 2 feet back

Things could be going better

I never finished BOTW, just read about the ending. Was it explained how all the Sheikah technology disappeared to the point where there aren't observation towers around anymore and everyone seems to have forgotten about all the tech Link was throwing around? I thought the divine beasts got dismantled but that's it.

The observation towers and shrines rose up in response to Link activating them at the beginning of the game. Presumably with Calamity Ganon defeated and their purpose fulfilled they went away again.

One reason I would strongly suggest to explore the depths asap is that you will find a ton of

- bombs
- weapons
- muddleblooms (might be the mvp of status effects)
- Zonaite Ore
- Zonai gear to practice building/traversal with

Yeah it seems all remaining Shieka tech was grabbed by Purah and made into things like the Purah Tablet and the new towers.

And its not like they got rid of all of it. Purah and Robbie are still clearly working with some Shiekah tech with the bases of the new towers clearly being upside-down repurposed Guardians and the Purah Pad being a new model Shiekah Slate. They just seem to have dismantled the deathbots that rampaged and killed almost everyone last time.

So I went back and did the quest at the Great Plateau where you have to gather up the statue eyes and drop them in the chasms. I went around and dropped all four in. And then I talked to the statue underground. And then I realized i had to bring the eyes to it. And all of the eyes warped back to their original spots, so I had to go around and drop all of the eyes all over again.
