I just got back from a week in Louisiana seeing old friends, and stayed with some who have cute cats. So naturally, priority #1 is to share. Arthur, who has a floppy ear after a cyst was removed. All their cats are either high-need or surrendered with no room at the no-kill shelter.    Kitten, who is 12 years old and still the same size she was at 1 year:  Baby Sue, whose owner just passed recently. He always looks grumpy but loves attention.   Sylvania, who definitely has 0.015 brain cells. His favorite hobby is to watch the toilet flush, and he has the memory of a dried goldfish. My dad had a cat that would do battle with a stuffed alligator most nights of the week and he would come in to the TV room and drop it at his feet screaming the whole time, and my dad would stroke him and tell him what a good killer he was.

So, sometime last November, my friend called me somewhat distraught. Long story short, she needed a new home for one of her cats. So she asked if I could take him in, while she'd still pay any and all expenses. So anyways, apologies for not posting about him sooner, but dear Cute Thread: Meet Mauri (aka Maurizio, aka Moomoo).  Don't let that suave look fool you, Mauri is way down on the Orange Cat Shared Braincell Usage wait list. And also just a big weirdo (even by cat standards).  Mauri is about 13 years old, but still quite active and spritely for his age. He does have a severely overactive thyroid gland, but that's kept in check with medicine he takes twice every day. This thankfully involves zero struggle, I rarely even have to hold his head to get the little plastic syringe in his mouth.  Did I mention he's a weirdo? Well, this is me struggling to take a cute selfie with him because he's hell bent on licking my eyeglasses. (He loving loves eyeglasses. He mostly leaves them alone when they're on my face, but when he sees me take them off, he will walk through fire to get to gnaw on the earpiece.)  He's very social, and while he doesn't often get quite this cuddly, he does love pets and likes being near me. He usually sleeps at my feet when I'm in bed. When I come home, he'll actually often stand up on his hindlegs against my leg, like a dog would. Yes, it is extremely adorable but sadly I haven't managed to get a photo of it.
